What about reversing at West Ken? That was timtabled for passenger service not that long ago. I think I have a TT from the 1990 that shows it.
But with referance to the actual incidents, it is tragic. There will be a group of people out there who everytime they look at those posters about saftey on the tube will realise the seriousness of that '1 fatality'.

Until 1991 I think there was an early morning reverser at W Ken.

So Picc drivers are not road trained on that stretch of track AFAIK. Even if Picc trains were able to reverse at West Kensington, it woudl just obstruct the District Line service running through fro several minutes while the reversing was carried out.

No the crossover at West Ken is still there. I had to use it a while back doing the last Hammersmith train and a ballast train went tits up in Hammersmith siding. The Picc drivers still have to be trained for the local roads Hamm-Acton but I always show my trainees West Ken and Ealing BDY. I know you're supposed to have a pilot but I always look at it that if I can't remember the route THEN I'll ask for a pilot.

DOC DOC, I didn't mean the crossover was removed, just the rusty rail trip involving the Piccadilly Line train was removed. I'm glad the West Kensington crossover is still there - there's a District Line shutdown next year which involves trains reversing at West Kensington!

West Ken #-over is used by Lillie Bridge is it not? I seem to recall that the West Ken Picc reversers were for workers in the area or is that confusion with Olympia and the Post Office workers?

I see your point with that and agree, however sometimes you would be liable to get a member of station staff who probably wouldn't know the road either. DOC

The West Ken Picc reversers were indeed early morning staff trains. Does LUL still operate staff trains?
