Is there any concept art on what the new Piccadilly terminus will look like? I do know it's supposed to be an island platform with an arrival side and a departure side, but will it be similar to T123?
Also, how close would a w/b train be able to approach with the arrivals platform occupied?

It will be an island platform with 2 sidings to the west of the station. According to tfl photos etc are available on request to the media only. I have seen the diagram and there are about 5 or 6 'X' signals all the way from the junction to T5. I'll work out how close the trains can get when I go in tomorrow.

5 home signals! Wow!
I think the highest is seven at Mansion House e/b, but the average is three. 5 will definitely be helpful.

OK. There will be 5 signals between PiccEx Jcn. and T5. The first four are 'X' signals with the last 3 being multi-home signals. Then there will be an approach control signal about halfway down the WB platform. Then a shunt with a theatre box to go to either siding. From either siding there will be a shunt signal to the EB platform. Then the starter. Then another 'X' signal before coming to another new signal (WY7) before the converging junction into Heathrow T123 Plat. 2. The Tube has been designated Platforms 5&6 at T5, Heathrow Express Plats. 3&4 and 1&2 have not been allocated anything.

Will the X signals be in the auto series for the w/b Heathrow branch? If so they will probably be in the 430s.

Hmmm, I guessed in the wrong number direction What's the running-in speed with the sidings occupied?

Not sure yet but as there is an approach control signal in the westbound platform I would guess about 10mph.

Well, at least with so many signals present a slow tipping-out on the arrivals platform is no big deal. It's a shame that a colour light signal can't be provided for movements into the sidings, so that an overcarry doesn't cause a big shutdown while the nice man with the letters 'DMT' on his jacket appears...

Given that there appears to be at least 50m between the end of the WB platform and the crossovers, then why can't the run in speed be higher than 10mph? I would guess that a train could be tripped/emergency stopped from 15mph to 0mph in less than 50m?
Does anyone happen to know the expected roll out roll in times for the arrival platform at T5?
