Is there any remote hope of classic trains ever operating on the Northern again? I know Cravens have a preserved 62 (Not quite a 59 but close enough) and old 72 mk1's still hang around at locations on th system. Would be good to see these trains back where they belong - on the Northern (over the alps on the Bank branch of course!). Obviously what I mean is for special tours and the like, as I think the guards monitors have been removed at places.

See here for a picture of the interior of the museum's 1983 stock. For some reason I remembered more orange, maybe it's the fact I spent most of my Jubilee journeys standing in the door areas (which have orange surrounds) and my memory isn't that great as I haven't been on an 83 for about 8 years

I seem to remember seeing that sofa in the LU museum at Acton during the 2nd site meet in October ;D ;D ;D AlexH - if you want that sofa so much, I dread to think what colour scheme you already have in your living room to go with it ;D

That sofa would be an excellent eye-tester for an optician. It would also probably outlive anyone that ever used it. However, it would not be suitable for sufferers of migraine. Maybe someone should persuade DFS to make it...

Knowing DFS, the'll charge the earth for it....
There's a cushion available at HABITAT [Have a BIT of TAT] in Canterbury, for £35.

No disrespect to those who like them, but I only travelled as a passenger on these and found them very uncomfortable.

I remember them, didnt like them, didnt dislike them, the single leaf doors didnt look great did they? Can you imagine the "d" stock having double leaf doors!
