Gents With the closure of the Waterloo & City from Sat 1st April (great April Fool's gag eh! : I can see there being at least a few frayed tempers in the coming months. Getting a northbound train from South Wombledin this morning at about 7.50 I found that there were no seats at all in my car and I'm only one stop from the terminus @ Mordor Standing was the only option (not a problem), but by Balham the entire train was full to busting. Although there were exchanges of passengers alighting and embarking at Stockwell, Kennington and London Bridge, my journey into work (Moorgate) was significantly more sardine like than I can remember it being before.... if that's how life is going to be in the coming months (particularly when the service was running well) just imagine what's it'll be like if there's a foul-up somewhere!!! It wasn't even just me being perhaps a little to sensitive (being interested in LU); even colleagues of mine commented when they got into work.... The next few month will be interesting to say the least Regards Christopher

Indeed, I was on a train out of Tooting Bdy about 8:10ish, same deal, no seats. Once we got to Balham, the train was practically full, by the time we'd gone through the Claphams it was absolutely rammed. Add to the fact that when we got to Bank there was no DLR service (passenger taken ill I think), so had to walk to Tower Gateway, all in all a pretty poor start to the week! Really looking forward to the journey home. On the other hand, might go to the pub for a couple, just while it quietens down a bit, like...
P.S It's the school holidays for the next couple of weeks I believe, imagine what it's going to be like when the kiddies go back to school?!

Was off duty once, and was goin' to Edgware. From Chalk Farm to Golders, we were running signal - signal. T/Op kept us informed with info all the time. Stopped at Golders, cacaphony of mobile phones ringing. suited and booted bloke standing next to me moans about the journey taking X amount of minutes longer than usual. T/Op then says all change please, service suspended due to signals fault at Edgware. I get off and stand on the platform, bloke is still moaning saying the tube is 'f"$£"&*(^*%^ useless. While I keep my counsel, the T/Op closing the doors via the porter buttons lays into him with a verbal barrage, saying he doesnt have to do the journey. I'm so taken aback by the tone and language used, I shake my head in disbelief. Couse the T/Op sees this, and shouts to me "Wots yor problem" He stomps off down the platform, muttering away he's already x minutes over his break, f this, f that. I walk down to about the 4th car, no-one around, and show him my ID. Apologies were offered, and he accepted what I was saying was right. Not very good at promoting the image, but?

most staff every now and again get wound up with a customer and say something, maybe, not offensive[which i condemn] but something that doesnt help the situation. Its human nature, the resignalling which should be ready by 2011 cant come soon enough.

All these reports of severe overcrowding on the Morden branch of the Northern Line, and you don't know what can realistically be done to alleviate some of that - as the peak service is already 30 TPH (every 2 minutes) with stepping back at Morden - can't do any more frequent than that!
Big infrastructure projects are needed, shame that I don't see anything in the pipeline except for the signalling upgrade in 2011 - and I don't think that will achieve much.
