How many trains can Stratford Market depot hold? I remember reading somewhere that the shed (pretty poor name for such a building!) can hold 33 trains, 3 per road with eleven roads, with space for another 27 outside.
Combined with the ten sidings at Stanmore and outstabling at Wembley, Willesden and Charing Cross, why does the Jubbly still use Neasden?

Combined with the ten sidings at Stanmore and outstabling at Wembley, Willesden and Charing Cross, why does the Jubbly still use Neasden? As far as I remember, trains are not normally outstabled at any other location other than SMD, Neasden and Stanmore. I've never heard of any trains being stabled in Charing Cross or any of the reversing sidings (unless things have changed since I was based there!) As MetApp says, if all trains were stabled in SMD, that would mean all the drivers would have to be based at that end of the line, and the first south/east bound trains of the day (Stanmore - Stratford) would have to leave SMD very early to run back to Stanmore!

Isn't there some disused building next Stanmore station that can be used as a crew book on point?. A little bell keeps ringing that there WAS.

The old signal cabin is adjacent to the platforms, but since they are about to knock it down to make way for another platform it is probably not suitable. Even less suitable now, as on my last visit they had knocked it down. As far as I know, they either can't or don't use Stratford to full capacity. The other reasons are those already hinted at, though there are service issues as well. An incident blocking Stratford depot would effectively close the entire line. t least with half the service stabled elsewhere, something can be run. Never put all your eggs in one basket as the saying goes. Trains on the north end of the line stable only either at Stanmore Sidings or in Neasden depot. Very occasionally, normally during engineering works, trains may outstabled elsewhere, but it is avoided as much as possible - the current paint-job on the trains is sufficient in LU's view.

I wasn't really suggesting that SMD be crammed with trains and Stanmore be left empty, but it seems rather odd to spend huge piles of dosh on SMD and then leave it half-empty.
How much of a service can be provided from Stanmore with the ten trains in the sidings (not counting Neasden)?

At the moment 27 trains stable at SMD 21 required for service,22 trains stable at Neasden 20 required for service,10 trains stable at Stanmore all required for service. The "shed" at SMD has 11 roads 35rd underframe cleaning road,36 & 37rds for exterior/interior cleaning,38,39,40,41 & 42rds are "swimming pool" rds for exam and other maintenance,43rd lifting rd(with pit) 44 & 45rds flat lifting rds.All of these roads can only take one 7 car train.Outside there is 4 to 33 stabling roads(there's no 8,12 or 28rd)plus holding roads 1,2 & 3,all of these roads can only take one 7 car train. There is a plan in around 5 years to make all the roads in Stanmore double roads ie:N & S so the sdgs could accommodate 20 trains.
