I happened to visit Willesden Green today, where the Jubilee is terminating this weekend. I noticed that instead of short reversing every other train at West Hampstead, all trains were running to Willesden Green. Double ending was taking to place to speed up the reversals. Personally I think its good that all trains were being sent to the final terminus, as opposed to short turning. However, the service frequency at times seemed to be rather variable (varying between about 2.5-7minutes). Was this due to operational reasons at Willesden Green, or just problems elsewhere on the line?

I could be wrong, but on LU this is a practice where there is a driver in both cabs at both ends of the train. As soon as one driver reaches a terminus, the other one opens the rear (or now the front) cab up and reversal is very quick.

It's slightly different at Willesden Green, when train arrives T/Op gets in rear cab, rides into sdg, when T/Op at front shuts down cab he opens up and takes train into SB platform, the T/Op that is now in rear cab gets off train, walks to rear of NB platform and rides in sdg with next reverser etc, etc.

So in this case it's basically stepping back but with a siding in the middle - interesting!!

This is what thay do on the Central Line sandite train, makes reversing in the westbound platforms at Woodford and Newbury Park pity slick.

I expect that trains will be double ended at Waterloo this weekend during another Jubilee part closure.
