These diagrams take me back a bit. The first three were issued at the Railway Training Centre - I was given mine when learning "Rules & Regs" in September 1965 which took place in Room 102 on the 1st floor of the now demolished RTC. This was the room that had the large model railway, with a 'train' being represented by a model A Stock car. To simulate uncoupling and coupling, two 'cars' made up a 'full length train'. There was also a wonderful assortment of RTC Handouts on different subjects of which many were prepared and drawn by the late Alec Gorton, who was (in 1965) Divisional Superintendent of the District and Piccadilly lines.

Of course, some of that stuff doesn't apply anymore (I don't think?). The Freight distant signals on the Met main, the calling on and the 'S' symbol for automatic signals spring to mind. Despite this, it's a fantastic post-thanks q8!
