Apologies for starting a new thread on 2009 stock ...that other one has become too long, needs some sub categories !! ;D ;D These put the 2009 stock into superb context ;D If you get the chance to go to the public viewing I'd recommend it. For the staff viewing, I was fortunate enough to have our PRJB as guide and public thanks to him for the detail of his presentation and indulgence of my countless questions and requests ;D. Hope it's ok to post these pic's, if not, I'll remove them. Oh and this moquette is a real winner with me, I love it and it looks fantastic on the stock ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I find it a little strange that there is a display on the outside of the car showing the name of the next station.

I find it a little strange that there is a display on the outside of the car showing the name of the next station. I thought that too, but i suppose it's a quick way of somone rushing onto a platform where a train is present and establishing they are on the correct, northbound or southbound platform where such terminology may confuse some people I wouldn't want to see it on a line with branches though, where the route/ultimate destination is much more important !

Come to think of it, it is daft, since the next station shows on a seperate "flash" of the display, and indeed at first i thought the demonstration train was set up to terminate at Warren Street rather than Brixton, since Warren Street was showing when i first looked !

There are 3 days where only staff will be admitted, I think two of the dates have gone already.

Thank god they've put in a nice individual moquette for the line, instead of all that blue-come-Microsoft rubbish they've got on the Jubilee and Picc. With all rolling stock now conforming to the 'corporate' livery, it's hard to tell what line you're on these days sometimes - IMHO, the moquette makes it all that little bit more 'personal' to the line the rolling stock is serving.

Its not looking likely that I will be able to get up to London during the viewing period (unless I take a sickie tomorrow) What I am suprised those who have seen it haven't commented on is how comfortable the seats are? From the first photograph they don't look to be too thin. As for the moquette, yes it looks good but for some reason it reminds me of the Scottish saltaire. I'm not certain whether this is a bad thing or irrelevant

Well, why can't you use the grab poles as line ID?

This is the sort of issue I guess the CAT is supposed to iron out. I agree that the Next Station display on the outside is silly, much better to have the destination instead. When I get up there (apparently public opening is 4-10 August) I'll put it on the feedback form.

If I make it up there I'll do that also. It's not very likely unfortunately I will get there. It would be good if the mockup was open longer, and for the commuters not during the holiday season either. How long were the prototype 86ts Central Line trains on show for?

Euston Square Gardens, which is between Euston and Euston Square tube stations. I walked past it yesterday (hoping to be market researched, but no such luck) - its in a big white tent. You can't miss it.

I walked past it yesterday (hoping to be market researched, but no such luck) The secret of being stopped by a market researcher is to look like you are in a hurry and do not want to be accosted. They never seem to stop anyone who looks like they are taking an interest.

How long were the prototype 86ts Central Line trains on show for? As best I recollect they only appeared for one afternoon and early evening in Woodford bay road.

That looks an awful lot like a 1992TS - I really hope that the 2009TS is not as shoddily built, and that it retains its clean 'new' exterior for as long as possible.

Just my thoughts Tok, they really do look like a newer version of the 92ts. As for the vid on the outside, it looks awful and spoils the overall look.

Well it's being built by Bombardier, who now own Adtranz (builders of the 92s) so it makes sense that a similar design was created for the 09s. What we must hope is that Bombardier have learnt from the 92s and will make the 09s a lot better (although leaky roofs won't be so much of an issue!).

Hmm... I was under the impression that the 92TS was built by BREL.
EDIT: Old edit trashed. You are reading the new edit ;D

You are reading the new edit ;D According to London Underground Rolling Stock by Brian Hardy, the order was indeed placed with BREL, who became ABB Transportation Ltd., then ADtranz Ltd., now Bombardier (so we're both right ;D)

That's nice. The doors seem wider. Anyone know anything about the doors?

WHEN can the public see it? It would be quite interesting. The carriage looks quite short or have I not been on the tube for a while?

unless you are lucky enough to be market researched, you can see it from the 4th of August until the 10th (I think)

The carriage is short, where it is cut off should be another set of very wide double doors rather than the single one that appears to be depicted, then another row of seats to end with a single door. For some reason I got invited to go back on Thursday for a more in-depth interview, does anyone know anything about this? Will post if anything interesting comes up in this interview. Edit: In response to Chris M's enquiry in another thread (I think), did anyone remember to look at the steplate on the door to see if the year is included in the mock-up? I totally forgot but will try and remember to look on Thursday to get evidence that the stock is indeed known as '2009 tube stock'.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Just to confirm, there is no inscription of any kind on the step plate. Bombardier do not want their logo in a position where it can be stepped on, and LU do not want a logo on the vehicle exterior. There has been some talk of an internal logo but this has not yet been agreed. I shall butt out now!
