Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.25th,26th & 27th December they ran 6 trains in full TBTC mode between Stratford and Willesden Green. On 28th December they ran 12 trains in full TBTC mode between Stratford and Waterloo. Thanks for that, I been off the line 9 months now and was not working over xmas either, and forgot to check if it had actually occurred. -- Nick

Haven't seen any paperwork yet but,the engineering work look ahead says entire line closed for signalling work. OK thanks, yes I see all line closed. I was there in nscc for DFA trial ops - and having been there I could suggest it is quite possible that whats going on now might be so intrusive that trying to run any real service elsewhere might not be easy. I'm not involved with that now - so thats an entirely personal specualtive comment. -- Nick

I believe I am right in saying that the current numbering series on the Jubilee Line started with the opening of the extension in 1999 (whether 1 contained the first trains to run on the extension, or 1 was the first with Stratford-Stanmore through trains I don't know). Working timetables prior to that being in a series presumably starting with the opening of the Baker Street-Charing Cross section in the 1970s. Before that the Stanmore-Baker Street section was part of the Bakerloo Line (and before that the Metropolitan) so working timetables would have been numbered in the contemporary series for those lines. MRFS will I'm sure be able to give detail of numbers and precise dates when he spots this thread.

WTT 1 in the current series for the Jub was dated 28th Feb 1999, and contained only the shuttle trains which ran between Stratford and North Greenwhich.
WTT 2 was the first one to cover the entire line* including the extension.
*Excluding Westminster station, as the service ran in two parts; Stanmore - CX and Waterloo - Stratford.

Are you sure about that? WTT 1 was indeed issued on 28th February 1999. However, it was not issued for the Jubilee Line - it was issued for the Jubilee Line (Extension) which is quite rightly catalogued in my database-of-much-confusion and in the library as a third series.. Jubilly (Old) Jubilly (New) Jubilly Line (Extension) It is also of a different spine colour design. Those of you that are familiar with WTTs [well the current ones at least] will know that the line colour is on the spine - in the case of current JL temporary WTTs and properly bound (not stapled) TTNs, the spine is hatched in alternating horizontal bands of line colour and white (or half-width hatching in the case Circle Line/Hammersmith and City Line) - in the case of JL(E) No 1 the hatching is outline with a black line. To my mind, this particular WTT was issued in a different series as the line title and colouration is different. Perhaps I am being mildly pedantic, howsoever this is nothing compared to other things that I hold and are catalogued [1]! Here we have an ordinary temporary WTT for the Jubilee: Here we have a full WTT for the Jubilee Line (Extension): Incidentally if anyone ever comes across JL or JL (Extension) [2] WTT No 2 which was meant to come into effect from 8/8/99, but was delayed until virtually the end of the month. It had the paths of WTT 18 on the 'old' line, several RQ paths between the 'new' and the 'old' and Waterloo reversing - please get it for me. It's not quite my 'holy grail' of timetables [3] but I'd really, really love a copy. [1] different printings of Festiniog, CDRJC and Manx Northern tickets. I keep them in Wales... [2] I don't know what the exact title is, having never seen a copy! [3] Not sure what would be the 'holy grail', actually. It'd be a close tie between the 1948 Olympic Notices or 1937 Coronation Notices. EDIT: WTT 2 came in on 31/8/99 and WTT 3 - unusually for a modern WTT didn't have a specific date of introduction, just 'October 1999'. ISTR that it actually came into force on 22/11/99 although the sort-of full Jubilly line started two days before with no service to/from Stanmore due to Dollis Hill area trackwork.

I only have two examples of WTTs for the Jub, but I thought that temporary timetable notices and specialish ones (like the one for the extension only) used hatched lines on the spine for similar design reasons as to hatched lines on the tube map; that the WTT is for something 'under construction'. So for the two examples above one is for the extension exclusively and the other is for reconstruction work. Is this not the case? I only ask as a copy of a Met WTT I have has the line colour in solid on the spine, as does the Jubs subsequent WTT...

the service ran in two parts; Stanmore - CX and Waterloo - Stratford. I always thought the Green Park-Charing Cross stretch was discontinued once Westminster-Stratford was opened to passenger trains. Always happy to be corrected. Perhaps passengers were detrained at Green Park and the train ran on empty to reverse at Charing Cross.

Yes; in this case TTN 2/05 is a Temporary WTT for engineering work, and WTT 1 is a temporary WTT that doesn't have any engineering work contained within in it, but is dependent on other engineering work - ie it is self-contained and could theoretically continue for as long as necessary. Of course, hatched lines did exist for other 'normal' WTTs: Black/White for the Northern City (Highbury Branch) and Maroon/White for the ELL.

What was the last WTT number for the Stanmore-CX Jubilee Line in the series that (presumably) began with the first Stanmore-CX trains?

18; dated 28/3/98. The series did indeed start afresh with the opening to CX.
I think I've posted before about when the current series of WTTs for each line started, but that really belongs in another thread.
