Something is broken! No larger images available it seems
The image “http://www.sucs.org/~cmckenna/photos/quizes/tq2010/February/Feb16d.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
Not Found
The requested URL /~cmckenna/photos/quizes/tq2010/February/Feb16chq.jpg was not found on this server.
A & D remind me of central line stations in town and out east respectively but I can't be specific.
No idea about B except that it's overground
C could be one of several places, it reminds me of Earl's Ct, Knightsbridge, Swiss Cottage though I don't think it's any of those!

Not Found All the larger images are working for me. That error message typically means the image hasn't loaded properly. Try refreshing. The requested URL /~cmckenna/photos/quizes/tq2010/February/Feb16chq.jpg was not found on this server. That's because it doesn't exist! I just modify previous answer files with the same (or similar) pattern of images. It seems that in this case that the whichever day I copied the answer file from had medium and high quality versions of image C and I forgot to take the link out. Sorry.

Interestingly I had a starange outage from 0041 until 1456, strange in that it killed my Sipgate VOIP line, Sipgate secure webpage and apparently your large images but everything else worked normally! I localised the problem to a Cogentco broadband link. Refreshing the images made no difference this morning but they are okay now. Ubfortunately they haven't helped me at all!!!

The insets are all lakes. Perhaps one from each country of the UK? C looks Scottish and D Welsh somehow.

station A is indeed Marble Arch. Still looking for the link between the stations, and the location of all the insets and which inset is the odd one out.

That's not the reason. Indeed I took the photo of Hampstead Heath while making an out of station interchange from the Northern Line.

I was thinking "something with green"; Hampstead Heath is very green (trees etc), Sloane Square is on the District line, and Fairlop's platforms seems very green.
Sadly I can't make that fit in with Marble Arch

It isn't to do with green things. You are very close with the link to Marble Arch though.

Something to do with lakes or water features then... Thinking Marble Arch - Serpentine Hampstead Heath - Hampstead Pond Fairlop - Fairlop Waters Sloane Square - (The fountain in Sloane Square?) Probably the wrong tree again Or Subterranean rivers/streams? Although not sure if Fairlop fits into that one...

Probably the wrong tree again If you only knew how close you were! You've got the basic link, and three of the links.......

The water feature that Sloane Square links to is further away from the station than all of the others.
