A = Aldgate? B = Earls Court? The building in C looks like Wimbledon Park +1 D = complete guess: Acton Town, not the Gunnersbury Lane entrance?

Sorry, didn't put the answer in, D is Stockwell.
C isn't Upton Park.

C is indeed East Ham.
So we have:
a: Hillingdon - platform canopy b: Ealing Broadway - platforms 8 and 9 c: East Ham - exterior from top deck of 101 bus. d: Stockwell - exterior
There is a link between them, and an odd one out still to find, along with the outstanding background.

Is the link that all stations are served by two lines? Odd one out Stockwell not served by SSL?

They are all served by two lines, but that is not the link I'm looking for on this occasion. Stockwell is the odd one out, but not for that reason!

Bicycles are not permitted at Stockwell? Not sure if that is the case or not, but it's not the answer I have written down. There was a quite close guess earlier...... Or at least it was in the right direction.

Is Stockwell the odd one out because the other three stations are above ground?

It's not to do with being served (or not) by the District Line, nor is it to do with the relative positioning of station and ground level

Stockwell is the only one south of the Thames? (Trying to make sense of SE13's 'right direction'.)

Stockwell is the only one south of the Thames? (Trying to make sense of SE13's 'right direction'.) I think I have sent you in the wrong direction. Someone said that the locations were served by multiple lines, this needs expanding on.

Given that Stockwell (rather than Ealing Broadway) is the odd one out, I am led to think that this is because it has four adjacent (LU) stations, the others only having two: extending that they are all served by multiple lines, in each case there are destinations you can reach by taking either line (by a different route).

It isn't to do with destinations or adjacent stations.

Is it that the interchanges are all on the level? And that Stockwell is the only one of these that is underground?

It's not related to interchanges at all.

Stockwell is the only one which both lines run north/south

Stockwell is the only one where the lines cross? Others either share or are adjacent.
