Presumably LOROL have hired it? Thought I saw a glimpse of LM livery (if that's what you call it) in Ilford depot the other day, but view interrupted by an oncoming down train.

Wasn't unusual for 321s to work the line in the past. Suspect it will remain quite common, even though that line is now very much part of the overground network, mainly due to ongoing issues around 315 and 317 reliability and availability. What is perhaps more surprising is that the 321 has come from LM, rather than AGA, but no doubt there are probably reasons for that.

My understanding is that LM are loosing their 321s to Scotrail, and are being replaced with 319s displaced by 387s (and 700s in the longer term). Evidently, this unit has found itself between jobs, surplus to requirements at LM, but not yet ready to be refurbished at Doncaster for scotrail, so seemingly LO have made an agreement to use it for a while. Once the 315s and 317s have been reliveried, I suspect that the 321 will be released.

Are the 315-317s fully to be reliveried? Won't LO do a tfl-rail type job on them till their replacements arrive? Presumably at least the 315s will go for scrap when that happens...

Does anyone know for definite what's replacing the LO 315S? Obviously the 345s are replacing the 315s on TfL Rail/Crossrail.

Aren't the West Anglia lines getting the same new stock as the electrified Goblin?

Aren't the West Anglia lines getting the same new stock as the electrified Goblin? That was my understanding - also to the Wat-Eus line to shift more 378s onto the Orbital routes. The new stock are, so I understand, Bombardier's Aventra model, so will have a family resemblance to the 345s for Crossrail rather than the Capitalstars (378). No class number issued yet, although 710 has been suggested.

I don't expect anything beyond a deep clean and LO branding inside and out for the 315s. Maybe 3+2 seating will become 2+2 (I think that's pretty trivial to do), but I'm not familiar with the lines anywhere near enough to know if this will help anything.

This image would suggest against seat removal. Pretty much extends to some painting and vinyling, fitting new moquettes, repainting grab rails, and putting in new maps

. Maybe 3+2 seating will become 2+2 (I think that's pretty trivial to do), . I don't think it is - you can't just detach one seat from a triple. And unless you have a lot of spare double units units around you can't swap threes for twos.

I travelled out to Upminster yesterday to add the Upminster-Romford shuttle to my experience. Walking over from the District line platform, there was an Overground timetable poster, but once I was on platform 6, the station sign was C2C and the next train display said that the service was operated by one. When the LM train arrived, I was surprised. With a combination of LM and Silverlink signage inside, there was very little to suggest that it was part of the London Overground. Emerson Park had rondels, but Romford's platform only had a black on white sign saying Romford, not the TfL Rail signage like the rest of the station.

LOROL has taken lease of 2 x 321 units that have been very recently returned off lease by London Midland. The intention is that these units will only be used on the Romford to Upminster service. This is because LOROL hires in Drivers from AGA to resource this service and as has already been pointed out above, the AGA drivers involved already have 321 traction knowledge. Normal arrangements will be one in service whilst the other is available as a spare.

Graemem, where are they expecting to stable the spare? Presumably, it is kept at Ilford depot.

Aw shucks... I was hoping for an Overground branded train with Overground liveried seating moquette as it will be easy to take photos inside the empty(ish) train.
I've seen various types of train on this route, including 315, 317 and 321.

Simon Based on my one experience, you are likely to get this at the London end of a suitably liveried train at Enfield Town, at least off-peak, if a train on any of the LO routes will meet your needs. Chingford (several experiences) and Cheshunt (2 trips, one several years ago) seem busier termini where people spread out down the platform more.

Yes, although one set of seats in the middle of each coach had to remain 3 + 2 as a grab pole was fitted between them: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:313117_London_Overground_Interior.jpg

I like the LM green livery (and hate the awful graphics). With LO I like the graphics but am not too keen on the colours!
