More signal problems at Barking this evening. nothing sinister this time, FF56 failing with no green aspect, 9 eastbound trains routed through sidings between 20.30-22.00 to alleviate.

"... 9 eastbound trains routed through sidings between 20.30-22.00 to alleviate."
Wow! That's a bit flexible, isn't it?
I wonder when it will be 'rationalised' out?

Presume empty working over shunt signals, since too many points to be manually secured! Just a consequence of stabled trains being able to start up to east or west, and will likely continue with coming resignalling.

Manoeuvre can be done in passenger service provided all the shunt signals can be cleared.

Wow, I've never ridden through Barking sidings! Missed it now! Maybe next time. I suppose you can see which signal clears to show which route is set. But when the Thales signalling is commissioned I presume only the driver will be aware by the cab computer display. Will platform staff also become aware? Will the white lights show outside each car for a shunt move?

Will platform staff also become aware? Will the white lights show outside each car for a shunt move? The RTD Ready To Depart lights illuminate for any movement authority that require the ATO start buttons to be pushed.

RTD lights work with train in Auto or Protected Manual, but not in RM mode. So it would depend whether the departure from the platform was in RM. And of course on SMA6 ATC getting commissioned!

Cut cables makes me think of either deliberate sabotage or (perhaps more likely) cable theft - it looks like there is a need for 24/7 webcam coverage Maybe the cables are going to need relocating to the area between the LUL and Network Rail tracks?

It's clear this thread has moved onwards from the original cable damage at Barking caused by a fire earlier this year, to the latest reports of signal failures which appear to have been caused deliberately. This matter has come to the attention of the police and I would ask that those wishing to contribute to the discussion stick to the facts and, if you know further details, consider very carefully whether they should be in the public domain or not.
Rule 7.3 applies in this instance.
Thanks,
Tom

Barking signal failure today. Is this just a signal failure or something more?
