Going slightly off topic, has these sorts of incidents increased since the closure of Lots road in 2002 I was under the impression that, following it's mothballing, Lots Road is now back to full operation on Ken's instructions. The emergency power station at Greenwich is still in use

Yes, Paddington is a key interchange, and would be prioritised accordingly, however only only the Bakerloo Line platforms were closed and this was because to fix the problem involved using ladders and scaffolding which would not be possible until Engineering Hours on Sunday night. Would it not have been possible to suspend and elecrically isolate the line between say Baker Street and Queen's Park (or wherever suitable reversing points are)? While this would have resulted in more stations not being served, in theory at least a full service could have resumed sooner? The line would have been suspended from Piccadilly Circus to Queen's Park in that case. The crossovers at Edgware Rd and Marylebone were removed many years ago.

Has Piccadilly Circus been used in recent years? Time was when there was a scissors #-over which must have been handy in the past, e.g. during the war, but the SB-NB was removed...well I can remember it so within the last 40 years!.

Thats used quite often if there is a problem. I think its a South to North via the southbound platform job.

Are you guys sure that Lots Road is now closed? I don't know myself, but I am sure I had a converstaion with someone who said it had been re-opened. Freely admit that I am not certain here though!

The crossover is used quite often when the Bakerloo is suspended for whatever reason.

I believe it is, having just been on the edfPowerlink website. Though Lots Road does remain a Bulk Supply Point from the National Grid www.edfenergypowerlinkltd.com/

Thanks C5. Unless I have looked in the wrong part of the website, it just stated that it closed in 2003. Whilst that is true, I am sure I have been told that it is now back on line?

Well, thats that then! Thanks Chris. Although, I do believe that we still get some power from Greenwich so I'm not sure how accurate the Wikepedia statement is?

The book "Do Not Pass Go" by Tim Moore is a book which features a tour of London, related to the Monopoly board. The author visits Lots Road before closure, and also the London Bell Co, if that's any help. tinyurl.com/kcgmb

If you suspect its wrong mark it as "citation needed" (add {{fact}} after the statement that needs verifying) and/or put a note on the talk page (click the "discussion" tab at the top of the article).
