Finchley Central does seem to ring with this one somewhat - the colours are right. I'll +1 that.

I think I have made an error here The answer sheet reads "Wood grage Park - bridge from west side", and that is the station I intended to use, however based on the answers given here I've looked at other pictures and it appears I've used a mislabelled picture of "Wood side Park". I did take pictures of both on the same day on one occasion which didn't help matters! Sorry folks

I was making a sarcastic comment regarding your typo ;D Still can't beat the Hackney Wick one, you forgot to delete "Hackney Wick" from the sign ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Sorry, can't resist it...

Wasn't it you who said that it'd been cleverly photoshopped to make it look like it was Hackney Wick but that the rear part was from somewhere else? Out of interest ChrisM, how long does it take you to 'shop these photographs?

Wasn't it you who said that it'd been cleverly photoshopped to make it look like it was Hackney Wick but that the rear part was from somewhere else? Yes, I blame Sean B and my own silly mind. I reckon we have 2 images here that have very cleverly been altered by SE13. Surely, he wouldn't be that generous? ;D I reckon one is Hackney Wick. The other, complete guess, could be Ealing Common. The inset looks like the river Boutonne, from the opposite bank to the main road out of St Sav? No idea why this would have been chosen though. Is it just me or is the light shining on the wall in the background and the Hackney Wick sign much brighter than that shining on the painted wall in the foreground? The inset (on the fence) obviously covers a local station sign; that suggests to me that the foreground is in fact not Hackney Wick; SE13 wouldn't hide one sign and parade Hackney Wick in another if he hadn't blended two photos. I believe the plants belong to the picture in the foreground due to the bit visible through the gap in the door/gate on the far right edge. That was me. I was so used to being hit with clever schemes of the Quizmasters that I dinnae see it coming.

Out of interest ChrisM, how long does it take you to 'shop these photographs? It depends on the complexity of it. Something simple like just blanking out the station name from a roundel is about a minute. Tracing photos to produce the line drawings takes several hours. I suppose about 20 minutes per image would be an average figure. Taking the photos, planning the questions and writing the answer files (a significant job for the link questions) takes time as well.

I suppose about 20 minutes per image would be an average figure. Taking the photos, planning the questions and writing the answer files (a significant job for the link questions) takes time as well. I have three various pages to work from, one has the answers, one has the pictures and one has answers plus links..... SO, for tomorrow I select the monthly file, then the daily file from within, cross match that with the pictures page which contains a link to every picture that day, then copy and paste the links if they match, or adjust if they don't. Judging on the amount of stuff I refer to each day, there's a hell of a lot more to it than meets the eye. Each month is planned in advance, and I can see the individual days being planned. Each picture is then loaded on a separate page, average perhaps 60-90 per month, all of which need uploading, then the final page with links for each day which contain the location, every link I need including clues, insets, the original picture, and the author of each and every picture. Add to all of this, that the whole lot is passcode protected, so quite a bit to do for a single day let alone month!

I am a student, yes and before that I was unemployed so I've been time rich for some time! The picture counts SE13 gives include the small versions displayed inline here which take very little effort to create (for the linux geeks: 'find . -name "*.jpg" -exec convert {} -resize 640x640 -quality 85 -strip {}sm \; && rename 's/.jpgsm/sm.jpg/' * && ls -lhSr *sm.jpg' the last to check that they're all within the file size limit, I manually resave any that aren't at a lower quality setting.) In addition to what SE13 sees I have a spreadsheet that I use to manage the quiz. I keep track of each location, the dates and number of times it was used and how long since it last appeared, how many photos of that location I have in stock and who they are by (so I can find them). I also keep track of the number of stations and backgrounds by each photographer each month, which backgrounds have been used and when, and what region each is from. I also note which links have been used, when, between which stations, what the odd one out/5th in the set was and who authored the link (2 by ErikO and the rest by me currently). I've also recently started using an anotated tube map to help me plan the questions (I put a big green blob over each station I use to try and get a geographical spread). And there is another text file with ideas for future links and date tie-ins (one for sometime in 2012 is the furthest ahead iirc) Yeah, it sounds like a lot of work but it's not that bad as although it's changed a lot since February 2007 which was a single text file(!) but it's been gradual, like my skills with photoshop have been gradually increasing with the quiz experience,
