... Sunday May 15th, I heard today. and there was also speculation of there be some 'special' ticket (£30!) to ride on the very last service. that can't be right, can it? how can they charge for a publically scheduled service?

15th May sounds very optimistic to me. There won't be enough 2009 stock to run a full service by then, unless they are running a special "farewell" tour on that date, but I'm pretty sure that won't be the last day that 1967 stock runs.

Seems a bit unlikely on both counts, there are still a good 15 units to be delivered yet, let alone have them in service, and the price seems exceptionally steep.
From the info we have here, only 7 units have been delivered this year so far, and we're a good ten or more weeks in - May 15th is just over 8 weeks away.

I think that date is that of a proposed tour. The tour was always going to operate before the last passenger working. A 30 pound cost for an all-day tour operating over other parts of the network is not excessive and compares favourably with some of the events operated on the Met in recent years.

It seems the timetable of 67TS replacement will incorperate three events:
Farewell tour (the 15/5 date has been knocking around for sometime and coincides with a lesser amount of engineering work on the system that day).
Last train north of Seven Sisters (to Walthamstow), after which original signalling will be decomissioned (27/5 as there is then a weekend shutdown for engineering work).
Last train of all. I have seen a proposed date for this but time will tell.

Won't be the last passenger service with a 67, however there is a tour in the pipeline which the ticket price will be £30. Don't know if I'm allowed to mention it yet, but all being well will include a lot of open air running! While I'm here, last 67 to Walthamstow will be on Friday 27th May.

An idea for the tour would be, to fit it with tripcocks prior to the tour, so it can run on the piccadilly and maybe the met later on in the day? ;D

Yes, if you put it that way, it sounds great - I was thinking Walthamstow to Brixton and back! That would be quite a sight seeing it run down open lines

There is a planned date but no one knows it'll be met yet so no point publicising it at this time. After late-May certainly.

So when is the last ever 67 stock going to run? i heard June/July but how many 2009 stock is there now? There is a line shutdown in mid June to asset replace Seven Sisters to Highbury, after this no 67 stock will be able to run on the line, similar to the Seven Sisters to Walthamstow shutdown at the end of May, hence the last 67 to Walthamstow is on Friday 27th May.

I believe this day in May is just a railtour, that's what I've heard.

I believe the plan is that after Walthamstow is no longer accessible to 67 stock, they will run a small number of peak-hour round trips from Northumberland Park to Brixton and back, with various measures in place to minimise the risk of taking a wrong signal and ending up in the Walthamstow platform at Seven Sisters.

on the railtour will the 67 stock drive manually? If you selected ATO on the changeover cock on a manual line, you'd get a code trip valve dump as there would be no ATO codes! Simple answer, yes! The 67ts only drive by what the signals tell them to, they don't have eyes and watch for the colours...

The 1979 Auto-Tube Rambler Tour traversed the Finsbury Park crossover, obviously in both directions.

Yeah but that was 1979! What stock was used on that?

Yeah but that was 1979! What stock was used on that? It was 1967 stock as nothing else would have been allowed to run on the Victoria line. Other, more recent tours, have taken 1967 stock over depot trackwork and into sidings (For example 'The Darker Side of Touring' in 1997), so there is unlikely to be any problem using the Finsbury Park connections. The pointwork on the crossovers should be rated for passenger train use as both sets have the normal service using the tracks which are connected.

What stock was used on that? 8-car 1967 Tube Stock, which proved to be a problem in Hammersmith Siding! It also ran into and out of the Depot, and in ATO mode around the Hainault Loop. On exiting the Depot it demonstrated what would happen if a train left in ATO and not manual. Will they do that again?

It wasn't the 8-car that was the problem surely, but that the train was signalled into the sand drag/headshunt instead of the platform? Anyway spoke to the Line's G M today and it seems that the tour is still very much 'on'.

This is rather OTT but basically from what we were told, the rear of the train fouled the points preventing the train's reversal back into the platform, so the signaller cleared the train to run forward into the sand drag (the middle straight-ahead of the three options), and that did the trick. The train also traversed the then two 'loops' on the Central.
