One of the columns as Heathrow 1,2,3 has been retiled in large beige tiles with a double light bluey waistband.

Does this mean the rest of the station will become the same?

Good to see some work there, even if it's not the most exciting choice of colour. The 1970s Picc extension platforms look extremely dated, and the T123 station design is terrible for those with luggage.

It was designed when people carried their luggage and didn't wheel it around... I've always said they should have had a ramp to the platform, like the terminals had. And should build one instead of the current lifts being put in...

You're spot on there, it had never occurred to me before but what a sensible idea.
I don't mind the look of the Heathrow Extension platforms, yes it is dated but they're of a certain style which should be preserved.

I love the look of Hatton Cross, Heathrow T123 looks worn though due to obvious reasons! But yeah, for tourists coming into England, thats not a great impression to make it look like we live in the 70's

All of the station refurbishments usually go for white (e.g. Shepherd's Bush) so I don't understand why they have chosen the rather dated option of beige.

I dont think beige is too dated looking? Its like an alternative to white but means less cleaning really.

Oxford Circus does look nice now, the only bad part is the dust clogging up the lights!

It suits the Central line though as thats always been plain and simple. But look at Brixtons tiles now, it doesnt suit the Victoria line because it looks too kind of heritage

The Victoria line theme is small square tiles - plus, of course, the tiled motifs in the platform seat recesses.

Yes but Brixton uses a pastel green colour and beige/creamish tiles, when the original Vic line theme was as rhubarbrhubarb (I hope I spelt that right) said, small square tiles but in a grey theme

The grey theme on the Victoria line has been replaced almost everywhere - looks like they're just leaving Pimlico alone as an "original" Victoria line station. Understandable as the grey looks horrid!

Londons running low on 60's grey/utilistic designs now! It may not look nice but we have to preserve every era of design

I think the north end of the Vic Line is pretty safe. Walthamstow Central was refurbed last year and kept its grey tiles (or had replacements fitted). Euston Square is probably under threat once finances improve, and Tower Hill has (shamefully) gone. Old Street still retains its Victoria Line-influenced platforms. The Victoria Line decor was designed by Misha Black as an overall uniformed scheme and I think it's very sad that much of this has gone, replaced in some cases by some very uninsprining designs (e.g. at Victoria). Not just the tiling gone, but the original white-on-blue friezes, the back-lit roundels and other integrated items of platform furniture.

I'd like to see Euston Square returned to its original 1860s look, whatever that was. It was one of my favourate stations, I used to love watching the trains coming up from Kings Cross and marvel how this was all virtually 150 years old!!

Did they ever put ceiling panels in on the northern Vic? I read somewhere they were supposed to be fitted originally but weren't because of finances.

Tottenham Hale, Blackhorse Road and Walthamstow Central have unclad roofs and trough lighting.

Hear hear, I remember it all when it was brand new and despite the perhaps slightly sombre style it was great to have a line where the theme was consistent throughout.

Blackhorse Road is the nearest-to-original station on the main section of the line and Pimlico is the nearest-to-original on the Brixton extension.

But the theme on the vic is probably one of the best on the system, the best being the 70's stations on the Jubly

With Euston Square is it still possible to restore the platforms to the original design? Looks like the Euston Underpass was constructed in a metal trough that cut in to the original cut-and-cover tunnel.

The Euston underpass is just to the west of the station, and if there is an overlap it is with the underpass on the north side. The station was originally like the Circle line platforms at Baker Street, with lines of shafts allowing daylight and fresh air down to the platforms. At around the time that the underpass was built,in connection with the adjacent road widening scheme, girders were erected between each pair of shafts to support the road above. There is no chance of removing these now and restoring the original arched roof.

I didn't see any beige yesterday, just a lot of blue hoardings and also original 1970s LT orange tiling being trashed for no reason.

Why? Preserve the nice stuff of old, but if it's a horrible look, then not changing it is putting the needs of anoraks above the needs of real passengers. The problem is how do you define what is horrible? Afterall what is horrible to one person is beauty to the next. Add in history and you have yet another complication to add into the equation.
