why do the 09 stock have such small windows for such a new train? Is there a reason for this?

The forced ventilation which pushes air a head height is above the windows and the whole line is below ground!

I think you're right. They feel very enclosed but I assume that was sacrificed to get the new technology in.

The 92 stock big windows are a mixed blessing - in summer, in the open sections, they transform the train into a passenger carrying greenhouse!

They are about to replace the windows on all the 92ts under the refurbishment program. The top part should ideally be tinted to help with this but from the pictures I've seen they've overlooked this.
09ts - The proposed TFT screens would have made it appear less claustrophobic...

No, but trial refurbishment pictures are around, yes.

It's not like there's anything to see out the windows on the Victoria Line! If it makes for a quicker ride then it's definitely worth it.

I allways understood that the higher window line was so that standees could read the station names without crouching down.

The Big Windows of the 1967 tube stock cars were one of the most distinguishing features of the old Victoria Line trains - it would have been great if it was carried over to the 2009 trains!

What is the point for a line that is ENTIRELY in a tunnel? Why bother with windows at all then after all lifts don't have windows? Personally I like to be able to see out without bending down, even if the only thing worth looking at is the odd station or random bit of cabling running along the tunnel!

i hope the future stock coming on the Piccadilly Line or Bakerloo line have large windows. Small windows would be annoying, especially outside of the tunnel.

The idea of windows is to see what station your at! No longer necessary given the dot matrix displays inside the cars

Yes, I'd like to see out of the window too, it somehow adds value to the journey.
Dot matrix are ok, as long as the train is not full with people blocking the view.

The 09ts was supposed to get TFT panels to make up for the small windows didn't someone say? And didn't that someone also say that TFL budgeted and decided to use Dot Matrix displays instead?

Used the 2009 stock for the first time today and the thing I liked about it was it's bright interior, however the train was so warm. I used a 67 stock after and the train was much cooler. Never mind the how small the windows of the main body are, even the door windows are a bit too small, they should make the door windows a bit bigger.
I like the neatness of the 09 stocks interior, but the carriage somehow seems short, i went in the front carriage. The carriage looked quite normal though, they could have made it more better looking.
