What is the policy these days with regards to push outs on lines shared by NR / SSL / tube stock?
We have: 1972 stock / Class 378 - Kilburn High Road to Harrow & Wealdstone D78 stock / 1973 stock - Barons Court to Ealing Common D78 stock / Classes 172 and 378 - Gunnersbury to Richmond D78 stock / Classes 158, 159, 444, 450, 455 and 458 - East Putney to Wimbledon A60(A62) stock / 1996 stock - Neasden to Wembley Park A60(A62) stock / Classes 165 and 168 - Harrow on the Hill to Amersham A60(A62) stock / 1973 stock - Rayners Lane to Uxbridge

Quite simple really - we can only push out our own trains with compatible stock.
When I say compatible, I mean C's can push out D's or vice versa, etc; naturally "tube" stock isn't compatible with SSR stock, so you won't see a 73ts pushing out an A stock at Hillingdon, for example.
To answer the next inevitable question - what if the train behind isn't compatible - well we'll implement procedures like wrong direction moves or whatever to get the incompatible stock out of the way and then bring up a compatible stock to carry out the push out.

I cannot ever remember ever seeing any photos or videos of Push-outs. A Class 501-1938 stock Push-out would be top of my list.

1938 stock on the bakerloo used to have an emergency coupler bar which fitted in a socket in the floor just inside the centre door. The other end would hook on to a normal main line stock coupler hook. North london (or any other motive power) stock was allowed to tow/push 1938 stock but not vice versa.
