1st Pic is an experimental desk controller fitted to a 1938 stock for a couple of years.
2nd photo is the 'Joystick and Toffee Apple' So called controls fittied the streamlined 1935 experimental stock.

Am I right in thinking, that the 38's had Sequence Lights to show that all motors were functioning? Notice that on the Experimental Tube Train, the streamlined one with the J/TA Controllers. most of the buttons were positioned in front of the Motorman; this must have required him to lean forward to operate them.

Yes '38 stock did have sequence lights. You can see it in the top picture under the windscreen wiper motor. It was blue. like a pilot light but bigger. Below it is the pink MG indicator [sodding nuisance, shone right in your eyes] and under that the speedo. 'Meter' type. Beneath all that the brake handle.
As for the 1935 stock I knew an old driver at Acton on the sixties had been on the Picc for years and had driven them. 'Bleedin 'orrible' was his opinion of them. More draughts than a colander he said and the J/TA things were hard to operate. BTW iin the picture you can only see the 'joystick'. The toffee apple was on the left of the seat.

Try 1983 Jubilee stock and you'll be close.

It was on one of the 73 stock experimental tube trains. 83 and 86 stocks had very similar cab interiors which looked nothing like that.

Just seen this thread and that 1935 drivers seat looks like something out of the torture chamber in the Tower of London
