Terminal platforms for the ELL. I just wondered why the stopping mark on Platform 2 was around 5-6 meters further back than the mark on Platform 1.

The only reason I can think of is that it's due to the permanent red signal along platform 2.

What was the thinking behind having a 10-15m gap between DC and AC power at the end of platform 2? I assume there is a plan at some point to fill this gap by extending either the 3rd rail or the OHLE so that trains can run through onto the NLL?

At the time I think I recalled someone mentioning that it was 'not commissioned yet, but should be soon' - so seems to have fallen by the wayside. For now they'll have to coast

I believe this is one of the little unresolved hassles between TfL and NR! NR want some big bucks for commissioning that section. A figure I heard from a senior London Rail bod was £900k, yes that's £900K. So a four car 378 just passes the end of the 3rd rail at that stop point.
On the plus side it does mean 21/2 carriages are under the platform 2 canopy, as compared with the daft situation on platform 7, NLL westbound, where only 1 coach is under the other side of the same canopy. Passenger shelter is only a marginal issue; it's the missing bit of 3rd rail and £900k!

AIUI there are plans to eventually extend the OHLE into Platform 2 for a future service . It has been extended a bit, just recently a bit towards P2, but only as far as the footbridge .

The point where the 25kv line ends, and where the 3rd rail ends was set up during the blockade last year, when most of the work at Highbury & I was done. It is very unlikely the overhead will be extended into the platform, as there are no masts. The overhead reached the footbridge then, the third rail cut short on purpose.
Much more likely that the 3rd rail will be extended about 150-200m towards the new Westbourne Rd Jct, so a train will stop outside the station to change voltage; pan up or pan down, depending which way the train is going.
This set up is a compromise and frankly a mess, for a variety of reasons.
