Is anybody aware, of this. Will the S stocks for the District line, have a green interior? I hope they do, this will be the only thing seperating the District S Stock, from all the rest. Im not the biggest fan on the yellow interiors on the met, I prefer the purple on the A stock. Personally, I think the yellow looks a bit generic  Any ideas? |

That's the whole point!!
Aside from S7's being one car shorter that the S8's, and with a slightly different seating layout (more emphasis on sideways facing seats AIUI)........all S stocks will be identical.
S7's will be fully interchangeable across the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines.

Yellow is a bit generic? That's the whole point!! For the full Metroland effect, they should fit luggage racks too.... ....Compartments?? First class compartments with Oyster card readers to enter? Maybe a Pullman dining car would be pushing it a bit, but why not a refreshments trolley service. |

We seem to be drifting off into some sort of fantasy world......
All S stocks are deliberately compatible as amongst other things, compatibility equals savings in maintenance.
I'm sure you could have all the luxuries you like but I bet you wouldn't want to pay dearer fares for the privilege. That's the whole point.

I heard the line maps will be simply the middle third of a tube map, presumably with the line extremities sticking out  EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, as the Met has its own, I presume all S7s will have a generic one, so the Circle, H+C and District lines should all just about fit in 1/3 of a tube map if you crop it well |

No, a BLUE flag now. Boris has decided that he is to be credited for every LU train that departs on time, so a blue flag must be waved. He has also stated that every train delayed by a RED signal is a deliberate unofficial lightning strike called by Bob Crow or by Ken L. This is why he states that drivers are always going on strike and thus is his justification for driverless trains.............(As reported in the Evening Standard)

I fully understand the reasoning for identical interiors across the S7 and S8 fleet, as said above; it cuts costs, makes maintenance easier and allows a common pool of spares to be used, however, it seems a shame to me that the idea of Colour coded grabrails and different moquette for different lines is being lost. Although to me, the S stock moquette is (and probably is LU's intention) to be a further improvement on the C stock moquette.

I agree, the S8 stock may as well have taken the opportunity to use plum grab poles/bars, not yellow. This surely can't be a burden to long-term standardised maintenance costs as the poles will last until the mid-life refurbishment. |

I seem to recall that yellow is the easiest colour for people with sight issues to see.

I was about to say that certainly in London bus handrails are not all yellow; Arriva- cream (BorisMaster- gold); Abellio- red; First- turquoise; London United- blue.
I believe as long as the colour is a definite "contrast" to its background then any colour is acceptable.

I stand corrected. Must be the buses where I live only. Don't see many, 1 every 2 hrs 0700 then 0800 up until 1800hrs and that's you lot.
