LUL training course length

A friend of mine told me the training course for train operators is being reduced from 20 weeks to just 16 weeks. Does anyone know if this is true?

Already happened, and not really working out all that well to be honest. New drivers are now expected to learn the road and how to control a train all in the same section of training, before it was separate. This is how they have managed to reduce the training course.

The result of this, certainly on the Piccadilly Line, has been a much higher number of SPAD's and other safety related incidents, although admittedly experienced operators have contributed to these figures as well.

Also, stock training has been reduced from four weeks to one, thereby reducing new operators confidence in fixing faults. On a more positive note, they are all very good at making public address announcements.

In my mind the length of training is now inadequate for what they are aiming to achieve.

The length of the course depends on the line you are allocated to 12 weeks for all except the District where you get 14 this is because of dual stocks (C & D).

I am gonna try for as much extra time as possible
