District Line - Gunersbury construction

After the character and flora of Kew Gardens, we get to the concrete of Gunersbury. As before, these posts are meant to give a sense of how it's constructed. Lots of detail yet to add, but here's some progress. Hopefully it looks vaguely recognisable to the train crew who venture toward Richmond ;D

The tracks and parking garages are in place, as are various markers to site the bridges. First step is to get an overhead view from the sim. You'll also notice a few 'grids' on the ground. They are 1m/10m and are used so I know the dimensions. This pic is used as a backdrop in TSM so I can build the station objects to the right scale. Having the train in-shot is also useful as it too indicates scale and lets me ensure platform length is correct.

Our signal shows were diverging to TGN. The signal on the other pfm controls a reverse move and has a theater display attached. It reads "N" if set for NLL route, else "D" for DL.



Next step is to correctly align the platform to the tracks to get the platform-to-train spacing exact; then I'll add the on-platform objects (waiting areas, signage, lighting, etc.). An accurate rendition of the BSI building will also be added. More as it happens...

Those are absolutely incredible!

Not trying to nit-pick here but isn't the left hand side of the platform higher than the right side? (ie the gradient is so that the left hand track is on higher ground than the right hand track)

I could be mistaken..

But DrJimi, I am in awe. Those platform monitors look incredible.

Thank you folks - it's progressing well I feel. Luke - if there is a difference in track heights I didn't notice it in my videos, so if so I'll plead artistic license. It's hard to get close tracks at differing heights in MSTS without the ground looking horrible. Terrain mesh is no where near granular enough. There are a few bugs to fix as I finish it. I'm convinced the stairway should be a touch wider toward pfm 2, and the signals should be 3-color, with GB6 having the theater on top. I almost have the pfm stuff built (shelters, signs, lights, etc.) so I hope to complete it all bt maybe mid-week. BSI will be there too. I'll post a video from TGN to GUN when I'm done so you can see the new parts. Might even see a 313 in there

That's very impressive.

I see you even have the large bush that encroaches on the the eastbound track. Will it hit the windscreen, as in real life?

EDIT: I've just noticed something - there should be two n's in Gunnersbury!

There are several 'next train' type indicators now fitted at Gunnersbury. With all the concrete and 'blandness' of the station, those indicators actually brighten up the station.

Just wondering Dr Jimi, did you choose not to include them, or do the images you have not contain them?

ADW - the bush does indeed hit the windshield. I spotted it in SB's video and felt it should be present (I felt if I noticed it then train crew likely would also ;D ) I love adding in little details like that.

COLIN - I was not aware of the 'next train' boxes (SB's reasoning for that is spot on). If anyone could get me a few detailed photos I'll add them. Maybe even animated (i.e. displays change).

Mr Cuppa - I regret that both the 'niggles' you correctly note are Kuju's fault, and I have no control over either.

Well, the BSI building has been added - I eyeballed the size/scale but it seems to match my photos of the area quite well. It's certainly a 'visible landmark'! (Belated kudos to PP for supplying the detailed photos without which, etc.) Also all the night textures are done.
