This message was displayed in static mode for the whole duration of my Piccadilly line train home this afternoon: Does anyone know what it means? I assume the spelling error is deliberate in order for it to fit.

If it was the whole train then it was probably a problem down in the cab, i.e, receiving locations.
If it was just that one screen, maybe a contact issue.
Did other message appear on the screen? Did the audio announcements go as normal?

It was all the screens in my car at least (I didn't check the other ones) but it was clear that there were no audio announcements across the whole train.
As hinted in my initial post, this message was displayed for the whole duration of my journey so there were definitely no other messages.

Usually when that is the case, the screens will at least scroll the "This trains if for..." message.

Off topic, but you've reminded me of the audio announcements at Euston NR for a train the screens were displaying as a charter train. "Platform 1 for the 10:51 ... service to ... , calling at ... only"

"Platform 1 for the 10:51 ... service to ... , calling at ... only" I can't see what you are getting at here. Did they say (for example): "Platform 1 for the 10:51 Neasden service to Neasden , calling at Neasden only" or "Platform 1 for the 10:51 dot dot dot service to dot dot dot , calling at dot dot dot only" or "Platform 1 for the 10:51 ellipses service to ellipses , calling at ellipses only"? If it was the first example (i.e. they actually stated the destination), why is the destination now redacted? I'm felling a bit thick, today.

There is at least one car on which any punctuation is rendered as a series of symbols - "The next station is King#$"Z|s Cross St Pancras" for instance.
I have never seen the display pictured, in a few years of daily use of the line. A lack of DVA announcements is, as previously stated, usually accompanied by the old "This train is for X" display. Anecdotal evidence suggests it is more common in the early morning - this passenger for one is grateful for the rest it gives to his ears!
