I was changing trains at this station yesterday and I noticed a new footbridge has been erected at the northern end plus a substantial construct on the west side of staircases, canopy etc. It looks too substantial to just act as an emergency exit and I wondered if it will be a second entrance / exit for the station. I cannot find any information on the Overground website. Does anyone know what is happening?

I believe the S106 agreement from the expansion of Westfield provides £7m funding to expand transport capacity. Not sure if that includes work at Shepherds Bush Overground. Given the new development and housing is to the north of the existing site it makes sense to add station capacity at that end. It will also help to spread people along the platforms. I confess to being surprised that work is being done now given the expansion of Westfield will take a few years to complete but nothing like being prepared well in advance! Looks like main Westfield Ph2 construction starts mid 2015 with the shops opening in time for Christmas 2017.

This is additional entrance is most welcome. I had to exit there yesterday to change onto the Central line and it really was chaos trying to go through the one exit.
