I agree with A being West Brompton/Smallbrook Junction.

Background of B is Grosmont on the NYMR (taken from the NR platform)
+1 for a very old picture of Blaenau Ffestiniog as Linda is in Black and Carr 19 (aka the Passionwagon!) is still in red / cream.
Inset for D is Bodmin Parkway

The insets are all interchanges between NR and preserved railways

Hazarding some wild guesses: D - Willesden Junction C (very wild) Stratford
Link - they are all Underground/Overground interchanges, with D the odd one out as either no NR (other TOC) services, or the only one with Underground and Overground on the same tracks.

You have most of it, just location C and D along with the link, odd one out and bonus to find. Answer: Location A: West Brompton - gate between eastbound District Line and southbound Overground [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset: Smallbrook Junction - IOWSR platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Kensington Olympia - view north from south end of DR platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset B: Grosmont railway station - view from NR platform [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Inset C: Blaenau Ffestiniog - Ffestiniog Railway platforms [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Background D: Bodmin Parkway platforms 1 and 2 [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Clues: Location C: (click for a larger version) Location D: (click for a larger version

No, and LU probably isn't the quickest way from there to here.

C is Barking , other side of platform 1 on the unnumbered platform of the Eastbound District Line.

D is not a Victoria line station Location C: Barking - distance plate at east end of platform 2* [Chris M] (click for a larger version) *I took this photo a few years ago and can't remember where I got the platform 2 number from, so DWS might be right about it being on what carto.metro calls platform 1a

D is neither Bank nor Monument - LU is almost always the quickest way to get there from Waterloo, whereas the quickest way from Waterloo to D involves a non-LU leg.

Yes, but it's more specific than that.

Would D be East Putney? Link being interchange between LO and District Line?

It's not on that branch.

(assuming that the link is correct) D is on the Richmond branch - I'll take a punt at Kew Gardens. That would then make C the odd one out as it is the only one where the interchange is with the GOBLIN, as opposed to the WLL/NLL?

Cross Platform Interchange. It can't be Kew Gardens as Chris said from Monument the train would also involve a non-leg to that station. I will guess D is Gospel Oak, it also being the odd one out as the cross-platform interchange is the only one involving itself and no LU.

D is Kew Gardens, specifically the subway from the platform 1 side. What I said was that it wasn't monument because the quickest way from Waterloo to there is by LU (W&C) but the quickest way from Waterloo to D would involve a non-LU leg (SWT to Richmond).
It isn't to do with which line/branch of LO is interchanged with.
