Train watching at Stratford station London whilst waiting for a train to Norwich
Filmed from the eastern end of platforms 6 & 8, a location where I have waited for trains (and sometimes filmed) for over 50 years!
I was going to the North Norfolk Railway at Sheringham and a little footage from here is also seen
Trains seen include: Greater Anglia Classes 720, 745 C2C Class 357 London Overground Class 378 TfL Elizabeth line Class 345 TfL Central line 1992ts
My journey was actually to Sheringham where I visited the North Norfolk Railway and a little footage from here is seen at the end of this film.
What is not mentioned in the video is that the Norwich train had a door issue and it ended up at this platform for 35 minutes, delaying all other eastbound trains although some were eventually diverted via platform 10. I saw an Elizabeth line train at that platform.

An interesting piece of film. I note that the 08.17 apparently had a slow motion guard as we never saw the doors open.

As it happens it was the train driver's duty to open the doors. I am not sure whose duty it was to close them.
Anyway, you are right in what you notice but the reason is not what you expected - and I purposefully left it out the film as it was 'bad news' and easier to end the film without mentioning the non-opening doors.
It was very much a case of "come back slam doors, all is forgiven".
The train had 'a problem' and it took multiple reboots of its computers before the doors would open. In the end it was at that platform for a whopping 35 minutes, Towards the end of this time period following eastbound trains were diverted via platform 10.
Once we got moving we clawed back enough of the delay to arrive at Norwich a minute or so after my connecting train to Sheringham was scheduled to depart but I am delighted to report that it was held for passengers (like me) to catch it. Greater Anglia knew that there were many people on this train who also wanted to travel on the Sheringham train because when the on-train member of staff was checking our tickets he also asked about our ultimate destinations and told us about the delay repay scheme.
Regarding the delay repay scheme, I did not make a claim. This was because I arrived at my ultimate destination on my intended train at about the planned time.

Why were the greater Anglia trains using the Elizabeth line platforms and not platform 10 like they usually would in the first place?

Or Platform 10A, as they do in the earlier part of the morning peak M-F? Nice video of Stratford but not as interesting as in the 80s, when a cup of tea (properly made) in the cafe on 6-8 provided a morning's railway entertainment for my infant son!

Why were the greater Anglia trains using the Elizabeth line platforms and not platform 10 like they usually would in the first place? Or Platform 10A, as they do in the earlier part of the morning peak M-F? Nice video of Stratford but not as interesting as in the 80s, when a cup of tea (properly made) in the cafe on 6-8 provided a morning's railway entertainment for my infant son! Earlier in the morning I saw an eastbound C2C calling at platform 10, which I also thought was 'somewhat unusual' when Greater Anglia trains were calling at platform 8. Reasons? from previous experience I've learnt that especially on Sundays all services sometimes do consolidate to just one pair of tracks and one set of platforms (either 6 + 8 or 9 + 10) for track maintenance purposes. Another reason for not using the 'normal' platforms is staff training / train driver familiarisation purposes, or even because if a train driver does not use a section of track for a longish period then s/he will need to be re-certified before using that section of track again. Another reason could be that if a train operating company does not use a section of track then it will lose the right to do this. However this might be more relevant to SWR and the route shared with District line trains between East Putney and Wimbledon than any of the services which serve Stratford station. re: platform 10a, this (I believe) is routinely used by eastbound trains in the morning rush hour because both faces of the island platform 9 / 10 are used by alternate westbound trains as this helps smooth the service and allow extra time for alighting passengers without actually causing delays. 'Back in the day' I often saw the same done in the rush hours at Whitechapel - when it had four platforms and the Metropolitan service only ran through to Plaistow and Barking in the rush hours.

This is quite correct AFAIK, but is part and parcel of the nature of Stratford station. The staircases to and from 9/10 are narrow and impossible to use if (as I do) you need to get a GEML train out to Essex shortly after a westbound one (or pair) has disgorged a thousand pax all bent on getting to Canary Wharf. Not that 10A is any better, if a train from WAML has just tipped out! I reckon after the Shenfield trains are diverted through the Eliz line core similar may occur on 3-5...

Maybe, but at least westbound passengers can switch to the westbound Central line without using any stairs and 3 - 5 has three sets of stairs* plus the direct route to the DLR platforms 4a and 4b *albeit only one stairway that offers direct access to a foot tunnel that serves the Jubilee line & DLR trains to Stratford International, although if these steps are very crowded walking via the route to DLR platforms 4 might offer some degree of an alternative Central line passengers will also benefit from 3a Passengers for Canary Wharf might find it easier and faster to avoid the Jubilee line by going to Whitechapel and taking advantage of the cross-platform interchange with eastbound trains to Abbey Wood.

On the Canary Wharf Elizabeth line station open day shortly before opening, I ended up in a discussion about the quickest way to Stratford from Canary Wharf. The conclusion was that if you are starting from the north side of the Canary Wharf estate (i.e. closer to the XR station than the Jubilee line station) then going via Whitechapel will usually be slightly quicker, but if you are closer to the Jubilee line station then that route will usually be fastest. If you are already on the DLR then the time spent changing stations will normally negate any speed advantage the JLE or XR have. These considerations will obviously also apply the same to journeys from Stratford. I would imagine that if you arrive at Stratford on an Elizabeth line train from the east that changing at Whitechapel to get to Canary Wharf will offer speed advantages, as well as a more pleasant journey, versus changing at Stratford for more of the Canary Wharf area than for those who begin their journey at Stratford station. The same may also be true for those arriving at Stratford on the westbound Central line, but two changes of train rather than one will push this firmly into the realms of the best option being an entirely subjective matter.
