This isn't modelling in a conventional way, but District Dave hasn't got a "Baking" section! For the last few years, every Christmas my partner and I have created a gingerbread model of a tube station. This year we picked Hounslow East, perhaps not one of the better-known stations but with distinctive early 2000s architecture. The station is modelled (baked?) to an approximate scale of 1:100, both for practicality of fitting on our chopping board and compatibility with the diecast tube train and buses. Owing to time and space constraints, we made only one end of one side of the station. That portion we reproduced does enable a good "street level" view of the frontage. The roundel and height restriction sign on the bridge are colured icing applied with a toothpick, while the roof supports are uncooked dried spaghetti. The curved roof was baked as a flat sheet, then cooled on a former made from corrugated card. Getting it to align with the curved wall below was a mix of maths, dead-reckoning, and trial and error. The track is old Hornby Dublo - slightly overscale but with a sort-of-correct centre rail! Our first gingerbread station was a lockdown project over Christmas 2020. Perhaps backwardly, we started with Mornington Crescent. In 2021 we made Sudbury Town... ...and 2022's station was Newbury Park. Slightly unintentionally, we've been progressing chronologically each year. There's a dearth of modern station which are both architecturally impressive and bakeable - much as I love Westminster, it's not really practical in gingerbread! So next Christmas we'll probably start from the beginning again...

So Baker Street next then?

But I though Puddington (Paddington) Bread (Praed) Street would be a better pun.
