Reluctance of TFL Journey planner to include Bakerloo line

I'm travelling from Croxley to Paddington tomorrow for 7.30: the route used to be via the Bakerloo from Baker Street. Now, it seems TFL are emulating RyanAir by pushing travellers onto buses: I'll have to pay twice. Is there really any reason to not interchange at BS?

Have you tried editing the settings for this journey?

You shouldn't have to, but try this:
Edit the journey, then edit preferences and untick Bus.

There's a Bus Only option, but not obviously Not Bus... Oh, I've just tried the options again after setting "Only Bus" (a very slow journey) and got far more, including your suggestion giving me the required answer. Thx

The "no bus" journey seems to have an 8 minute allowance for leaving Paddington station, which even if there are escalator problems seems excessive and none seem to be shown at the moment anyway, just a baffling access issue for the Elizabeth line. That extra time presumably tips the balance compared to just getting off a bus onto the adjacent pavement although if you actually want the mainline station you've still got to walk to it. I assume the Met to bus and Met to Bakerloo times at Baker Street in Journey Planner are similar so don't affect things, though in the real world on average I'd expect to be on a Bakerloo train rather sooner than on a bus (and if you go to the Bakerloo first you've then got a backup option of the bus if you see there are delays or overcrowding, which doesn't really work in reverse).

At least they've dropped Journey Planner always showing the bus-only route first without being asked even if it would take several hours and numerous buses.

The journey planner does some really weird things.

I meant to post this at the time, but forgot, so I can't remember the precise details now, but it was something like this.

I wanted to get to Heathrow at stupid o'clock (~6 IIRC) from Shepherds Bush.

The journey planner suggested that I get up at three, catch a bus to Ealing, and then get the Heathrow Express. It looked as if the journey had been optimised for their profit.

I did a quick check to ensure that the HC&C and Piccadilly were running, and left at five to easily get to Heathrow on time using the obvious route.

On other occasions it's insisted on giving me weird and wonderful routes, with multiple changes and bus journeys, when there are perfectly good, simple, underground ones available.

It's not the greatest - I can certainly recall entering a location and it deciding I wanted to go somewhere else, which wasn't even served by TfL services!

ISTR that during last summer's visit I tried the TfL planner a few times but went back to goog as it generally produced more sane routes.

Although.... from where I was staying in Lisson Grove it had me using Edgware Rd, Marylebone, or Baker Street depending on some unknown algorithm which probably included the exact second when I pushed Go.

I find City Mapper pretty good and accurate . . .

Maybe its because I'm becoming old fashioned, or that when I grew up these technologies just did not exist - so we all used other ideas, but anyway, I rarely use any of these softwares for these functions .. and I tend to get where I am going easily enough!
