As I had some free time after a job interview, and the need to take some photographs for the university railway club competition, I took the Piccadilly up to Cockfosters, alighting at each station to admire Charles Holden's architecture.
No problems on my return journey, until the train pulled in to King's Cross, where I was catching the train back to Cambridge.
For some reason the doors on the carriage I was in (and maybe more) refused to open. After somewere between five and ten minutes, the staff started evacuating the passengers through the communicating door into an unaffected carriage, and hence on to the platform.
About thirty seconds after all the passengers had left, and having had its fun, the train decided that maybe it would open the doors after all, with a cheer erupting from the now rather large crowd on the platform.
The train was taken out of service, with the one following being a rather tight squeeze.

Sounds like some sort of CSDE fault.

As Q8 suggests, it could have been a CSDE fault, but also a fault on the override button! I've had to do this at Paddington before on a C stock where I couldn't get an accurate stop light, and the override button had failed. We had to tip out using the butterfly cocks.

Sounds like some sort of CSDE fault. Or even something to do with speed sensing, but I would have thought it would have affected the whole train? Strange! What was the date, I will look into it....

Southbound Piccadilly at King's Cross at 6:30pm on 13 January 2006
I'm sure I heard a PA along the lines of "This train is being taken out of service due to door problems affecting part of the train."
After the doors decided to open, it was amusing to watch the staff chase the passengers who had just entered the platform, seen what appeared to be a waiting train and jumped on.
