I hear the possibility of an extension from Kennington is being raised again. To where it will end up who knows...

FROM Kennington? The only parts of London I can see it being extended to is mainly the un-developed east! But I'd like to hear more about this as it sounds quite interesting!

as discussed before, there was once a plan for the northern to go to Streatham, branching off at Oval, as well as the extension 'beyond Morden'.

These extensions keep popping up as a way to drastically improve the Northern Line - by providing a second southern branch to match the two city routes and the two northern branches, the frequency on the Morden branch can be lowered and the trains diverted to the new line, thus improving reliability on the Morden route and providing a way out for the Line Controller if something suspends part of the line.
Having this symmetry also allows the Northern timetable to be recast, providing for a more regular and easily recoverable service (i.e. all Edgware trains to Morden via Bank, all Barnet trains to Streatham via CX). And the best part is that you can graft on an extension without major disruption to the rest of the line - all that is needed is a quick shutdown to resignal the Kennington area.

I agree an extension from Kennington would balance the line out and would help a great deal.
Yup tfl have mentioned re awakening the extension of bakerloo south also Vic line south (poss loop) and Northen south from kennington.
The bakerloo looks like the first possibility with Vic and northern even keel. As there is still room on the line to take extra traffic where as the Northern and Vic will have to wait until they are re signalled.
It would make very good sense for all three projects for various reasons. it's a shame all is focused on crossrail when the money would most probably pay for all three extensions!

Beyond Morden was Sutton, to have a junction with the district (extended from Wimbledon) at around Morden South station. Now if you had the express line start at kennington then stop at, say, Balham then Morden, you could then have that run to Sutton after. Would the 95's have a decent speed for the long express runs?

Though branching at Oval would mean a bottleneck between Oval and Kennington... I suppose it would help with a branch going from Kennington in the scheme to split the Northern.

Tomcakes, Kennington - Oval would be effectively 4-tracked (or rather, the branch would come off the loop and have two platforms at Oval.
the line from Oval would go along the A23 south, via Brixton. The straight line path from Kennington to Brixton and Streatham goes pretty close to Oval anyway.
