As I sat on the DLR being blinded by the sun this morning I had a cunning thought!
As you obviously can't put tinted/darkened windows on the S stock because they go underground, has any thought been put into putting some sort of photochromic film or window layer on the new stock. As the SSL lines all run roughly east to west I can imagine this would be quite a good feature for reducing glare from the sun, because it would go darker in the sunlight but turn clear in tunnel sections as the reaction is triggered by UV light.
[like those clever glasses from specsavers, but on trains]

D stock windows are tinted, so it's not impossible

I've heard that the clever glasses take a bit of time to react (~1 minute) which makes them not a brilliant choice for driving, particularly with wide bridges (e.g. motorway roundabouts) and tunnels. Surely this would make it a poor choice for the SSL where going in and out of tunnels is a frequent occurrence?

I don't know, I just throught with the outer ends of the lines being mostly open air it'd be an easy way to reduce glare without keeping the ops 'in the dark' in the central tunnel sections.

D stock windows are tinted, so it's not impossible As, I believe are those on C stock set 5567/6567... Incidentally, talking of C stock one-offs, does 6513 still have the experimental air conditioning equipment fitted to it?

No, it doesn't. solidbond says that the ACUCOS that powered it is still in place, but the rest was removed as a result of high water output from the unit.
