Given that the 1992TS are the last fleet of new trains that are actually owned by TfL LU, will the precedent set by the current X-year ownership of the 1995TS and 1996TS by Alstom be perpetuated with the 2009TS and the S stock?
I wonder if anyone 'on high' plans on going to a NR-style model, where TfL LU only owns the fixed assets and everything else is in the hands of the train fleet builders or the infracos. Hopefully there will be an expiry clause where the train fleets revert to TfL LU ownership.

I believe that at the end of the PPP all assets will revert back to being owned and operated by LUL. Of course 25 years is a long way off and i can see the Opsco's being flogged off ELL style once the lines are more self-contained, and the olympics are out of the way :-(

Alstom do not own the 1996TS. Interesting - I know they own SMD but I thought they owned the trains too.

Then I am clearly misinformed - I was always under the impression that Alstom built the 1996TS and SMD under contract to LU as part of the JLE project, but that LU never actually took ownership of either at the time. Could you clarify things please?

Alstom (GEC- ALSTHOM) did build the 1996 stock, but it did not build Stratford Market Depot.
Alstom had a 10 year contract to maintain the stock at SMD, it is due to run out in April 2007, Tube Lines have not yet said if the contract will be renewed.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Both the 09ts and the 'S' Stock will revert back to LU ownership at the end of the PPP contract in accordance with the agreed terms. Not sure what the deal was with the JLE though, I suspect it was a PFI but don't qoute me.

The only stock that is not LUL owned is 95TS,they're leased from Alstom,by the time PPP runs out they'll almost be due for replacement.

95ts built under a Private Finance Initiative, Alstom maintain them, having taken over Golders and Morden depots. I think that it was for 20 years. We're already over half way through this, quite what happens at the end of it all, is beyond me at the mo...
