TfL apply for Metronet contracts

according to the BBC NEWS WEBSITE and also the TfLWEBSITE, TfL have applied to run the Metronet contracts temporarily. Is this just to appease the staff, or a serious expression of interest in taking the maintenance over?

There are plans for the RMT to hold two 72-hour strikes on the 3rd and 10th of next month.

RMT General Secretary Bob Crow has also said that strikes would disrupt the entire network as they could result in a lack of staff to carry out vital track maintenance and safety checks.

If they strike on the 3rd, I will torture them all to death, because I have to get in for my train op assessment.

And TfL have done such a good job at things within their control at London Underground. Such as.... errr.... blaming PPP, Tube Lines, Metrodebt, Connect PFI and sometimes being economical with the truth about the reasons for delays.

As for privatising Human Resources and Resourcing, well just ask any member of staff about that.....

i was changing a trainstop hose today at hammersmith (w/b fast starter) and over the PA it said due to signal failure theres no trains and me wearing a metronet hi-vi i nearly got strung up by the passengers as it was already susspended hammersmith - hyde park it wasnt a signal failure just abit of preventive maintenance

what gets me though is on all the posters tfl are renewing the infrastructure i.e signals,trains etc but when it goes belly up metronet mostly and tubelines get the blame but the posters say they are renewing it funny though i never see them around

Exactly what I mean aetearlscourt!

They have all these hoardings and posters up saying that all this work is being done under the TfL £10bn Investment Programmme (a loan from HM Govt), but a lot, except for the likes of Victoria station upgrade is actually being done under PPP. Which was meant to have been a seperate funding source!

I think a little letter to the Advertising Standards Agency is needed!

I keep thinking that TfL are keen to emphasize the the difference between themselves and LUL when I'd thought the two were interchangeable. Probably it's because TfL hold the purse strings. Or is that they need the infracos to keep a seperate identity from LUL so that they can be sold off after the 2 years?
