Concerns about passenger numbers for the Olympics has put some of the improvement works at Baker Street station on hold. The new project will now only deliver "step free access" to platforms 1 to 6 for the Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. Jubilee has already had loads of money spent on it, give the money to a different line for a change. ;-)

The Jubilee line already has step free access from all the extension platforms and at the interchanges at Westminster London Bridge, Canada Water, West Ham and Stratford, so disabled passengers can already access most of the combine from the Olympic venue.

When they do, they should make the signs that tell people what side of the steps to use clearer. When a train terminates, the passengers use both sides of the steps, making it difficult to get down onto the platforms. Will step free access to platforms 5 & 6 affect the look of the platforms? |

Two new lifts are going up on the Met line platforms linked by footbridge. Step free access on platform 1/2 makes platform 5 accessible without further work.
The island platforms are also to be extended by 2010 as part of the SSL upgrade.

What is so wrong with the Met line platforms? I, frankly, think there are plenty worse platofrms on the network. What does everyone not like about them?

There's an exhibition about the works tomorrow until Saturday at the University of Westminster, one block south of the station.
