Come on Chris, you should know by now that the railway doesn't thrive on logic! There is (was?) a way to bodge a credit transfer between one Photocard on the TOM (Ticket Office Machine) but it's not strictly by the book so you'd be relying on an old-school SAMF being willing to help. There are genuine technical limitations when it comes to Photocards (because you can't replace them on the spot, for instance) rather than just political "this is not a ticket office" ones. If it's any consolation, now that Faster Universal Load is rolled out the credit transfer should be almost as fast as an instant one at a station, and of course you now don't have to travel there first. I'll have a look through the online pages and see what I can find, thanks.

My new 18+ student oyster card arrived and there is a period of overlap where both my old and new one are valid. My travelcard expired so I wish to return the old one. I cant seem to find any instructions how to return and transfer remaining credit from it to a new one. I vaguely remember I just go to a station and "ask staff"? Is this correct and what exactly will they do?

Things should improve once the new signalling and the new trains have arrived. Crossrail should also relieve some pressure on the Heathrow Branch and also for those travelling to Ealing Broadway but using the Picc for some of the journey. Just have to wait it out...
I do wish drivers would be more consistent in announcing where the trains are going before and upon arrival at Acton Town however...

It would help of course, if the current station issues were not hidden in an obscure place, taking several clicks and if they were given equal importance alongside the line information. I wonder how many people know about the station issues status and also how many people assume the line delay information includes information about the station issues...

It seems certain that Crossrail will extend to Gravesend or Ebbsfleet in the next several years, when this happens how would SE services be effected? There's talk of curtailing all SE Trains at Abbey Wood but this seems unlikely, especially since a large proportion of Medway and Gravesend commuters travel to Woolwich and Greenwich, I can see Belvedere, Erith and Slade Green becoming Crossrail served only with SE Trains running fast from Dartford to Abbey Wood (possibly calling only at Greenhithe only too when Crossrail reaches Gravesend) All we know is that there is space for extra tracks beside the SE ones. No one knows with any certainty what will happen to service patterns. One thing that probably is certain is that commuters (and their political representatives) will launch a moaning campaign demanding that "their" train service (you know, the one they personally own and uniquely fund ) be preserved in aspic so they don't have to get out of bed 5 minutes earlier than now. (Sorry but people moaning about preserving S London's rail services and patterns / frequencies just drives me mad). Nothing will ever get better unless someone is prepared to do something radical about commuter train services in South London. I think devolution was a pretty radical idea but we all know the real reasons why it didn't occur...

I for one think its fantastic news that a very busy station will be getting a capacity increase. I can't understand any of the negative comments which object the purpose of the station upgrade.

And just for those interested, usually if a train is unexpectedly to terminate on the Eastbound platform at South Harrow, the driver informs passengers for stations beyond South Harrow, to get off at Sudbury Hill, so they don't have to traverse the stairs. Obviously in this case there is little point since no trains will be going beyond South Harrow.

The waste heat from the tunnels is going to be captured and used to heat nearby properties. Londonist ran a short piece about it earlier this year. Were TFL also going to "rent out" some of the abandoned tubes stations for extra income?

I complained about it several months ago and got a standard response, saying their engineers are working on it. For some trains it isn't so bad, but for others, it is indeed awful and I always grimace in anticipation when taking the Jubilee southbound to Baker St.

"Goodge Street station is closed due to staff absence."
I'm not sure if the mornings issues are related to why it was exit only when you arrived.
Unfortunately we live in a time where corporations are more willing to give out information on their twitter handle to retain some semblance of a "public image" rather than display their information, clearly I might add, on their websites.

It won't make any difference. People already use their phones with or without the internet access. It will only change how people use their phone.

I really like these initiatives to make the trains more accessible. Whilst we still have a very long way to go, long may it continue. All these small things can really make a difference for some people.

The Stratford-Woolwich branch is too light and might be missed. I'd make it a shade darker and therefore also make the Tower Gateway branch a shade darker too. Otherwise I quite like it.

Some new-ish tracks appeared to be placed on top of the old tracks of the old sidings in Rayners Lane. What are these for? Is it just temporary storage for track replacement work (elsewhere) next weekend?

A message is still needed that the trains are "Metropolitan line". There are still many people who don't regularly use the tube to omit such a message.

Also no mention that none of the proposed heathrow services will be from the Shenfield branch.

Does the usage on the night tube justify expanding night services to the overground? I am worried about the financial costs of this, given the fare freezes and the already tight budget with government reducing available funds.

What has happened to cause 4 lines to be suspended, the district and Piccadilly in full and the H&C and circle in part? Only just made it into work!

Two things I noticed in the second pdf.
1) It mentions improvements to Harrow, specifically a footbridge with lifts. At last!
2) It mentions improving station capacity at South Kensington by incorporating a second platform for eastbound district/circle line, but it does not mention the westbound service. I find this a bit worrisome. Maybe I've misunderstood.

Can we infer from this that the Fire services are happy that the building won't collapse unexpectedly?

I took those lines this evening, nothing seemed "different" so well done for the staff to overcoming the derailment so quickly!

The driver today said, along the lines of:
"Ladies and gentleman, I have an important announcement to make, there is nothing to worry about, but please can you take off your headphones. It is nothing serious....
... Today is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday, that is all".
Had a good laugh!

I was going to ask, how was it decided who would operate the train today?
