Saw a 313 this afternoon just leaving Stratford as I was coming up the stairs. It was the 16.09 Richmond service.

Does anyone know what the loud banging noise is as trains move between stations, particularly between Camden Road and Kentish Town West? It sounds like the pantograph is wacking against something.
I've kind of become accustomed to it now, but it always makes me laugh when it happens as half the carriage jump and look around wondering what it was. Having said that, there was an almighty bang this afternoon between Hackney Central and Dalston Kingsland which even made me jump!
Is this right to be happening? I've never known it to happen on other AC trains, and it didn't happen with the 313s.

Just a small question. I was on my way back from Stratford this afternoon, when between Caledonian Road and Camden Road, we passed 378018 (about 4.30pm) which seemed to be waiting on the line from Kings Cross to enter the NLL (sorry don't know the junction name).
Just made me wonder why it was there, as I've never seen a 378 on that line before. Had it terminated at Camden and went there to reverse or something?

So basically what you are saying is that we have had all these closures for upgrades and platform extensions, only for the same thing to take place in 3 /4 years time. The question that needs to asked is why all these platform extensions did not accomodate services of 5 coaches Now rather then later? Most stations on the temporarily closed section (i.e. Gospel Oak - Stratford) already have 5-car provision on their platforms put in during the closure. Only Dalston remains to be finished AFAIK. I got on at Kentish Town West today (for a change) and their platform extensions look barely long enough for 4 cars, let alone 5. The same for the extension to Gospel Oak westbound.

Is there a reason why the new timetable has the journey from Hackney Wick to Stratford down as 6 to 9 minutes, when it's actually 3? Is it so that it's unlikely the train will ever arrive 'late' by adding in some slack?

Was travelling on the Vic line this evening about 6.10pm, and got on a train at Euston to be told it would be held there due to a defective train at Warren Street. After about 10 mins, we made our way to Warren St and on towards Oxford Circus, only to be then be held in the tunnel just outside the platform (and in baking temperatures), because of ANOTHER defective train, this time at Green Park. Again, about 10 mins later, we got into Oxford Circus and went trouble free onwards to Victoria.
The driver of our train was excellent, and was updating us every 30-60 seconds or so, and said that the train at Green Park limped into Victoria sidings, and the one at Warren St had gone to Kings Cross sidings.
Just wondering if anyone knew what the problem was with these trains, and if they were some how connected, as it's some coincidence to have two trains become defective almost simultaneously!

I rode on 378021 yesterday from Gospel Oak to Willesden Junction, and then was fortunate enough to catch 378023 back from Shepherd's Bush to Willesden Junction. Also saw 378020 heading to Richmond whilst waiting for my Gospel Oak train at Willesden.

Surely they should get 378002 and 378024 sorted first? Or are they already done?
