Yes, Bombardier have built, I think 2x 8 car prototypes, [correct me if I am wrong], So I understand, they will be delivered to Northumberland Park next year for testing to commence.

There will be two 8 car pre-series trains. The first pre-series has been built and is currently on the test track at Derby. The second is being constructed.
Train 1 will be a test bed and will not have working doors or any interior saloon features. This train will be in London before the end of the year for testing, thats the plan anyway! Once completed, it will return to Derby for a complete re-fit before joining the main fleet.
Train 2 will be a customer ready train and on completion of testing will enter customer service for CAT (Customer Acceptance Testing). Once this testing regime is completed it will also return to Derby for any minor alterations that may be required.

I think its over two or three years
95ts took ages to bring into service for a variety of reasons
09ts order is for, I think, 46x8 car trains... again, I'm not 100% certain on this

how many 67s are there, because surely they would need more trains with the service increases.

There will be a total of 47 x 8-car new trains (incl pre-service trains) and the original plan was to run a max of 43 in service. There are now 43 x 8-car trains and they run 37, I think. There was a time when they could run a 2 minute service with 34 trains in service, but the dwell times were much shorter then.
IMHO, they will struggle to run a 43 train service without congestion problems, even with new signalling.

The first pre-series train is currently undergoing further type testing and the second pre-series train is still being constructed. Delivery to London has been delayed due to a number of factors with type testing taking longer than expected. Train 1 is running up and down and gets up quite a speed, it is smooth and relatively quiet too. The cab at one end has been fully fitted with all panels and equipment and looks pretty good, whilst the other end is still missing some panels and equipment in order to facilitate testing. Construction of train 2 has also slowed slightly, again for various reasons. I believe BTUK have had some minor supply problems but generally I think there is no point in rushing train 2 because testing is still not finished on train 1. Train 2 will be fully fitted out with interior furniture where as train 1 will be a test bed until returning to Derby on completion of London testing.

No, thats not at all correct. The arrangements for testing are as I have already stated, and the total 09 fleet is (as tubeprune has already stated) 47 trains.

It's definately NOT J D, I took him up to Derby last month and he is well on top of the upgrade plans.

Opp's! Sorry Colin, it's so easy to just fall into that trap without realising.
As for onetrains last comment in this thread, I suggest you try to be a little more open minded or your impending work experience may not goes as well as it could.

I totally agree with you prjb. onetrain - can I request that you are a little less confrontational in the manner of your postings? You are dealing here with people who really do know what they are talking about; many are far better 'involved' and 'connected' than you can probably imagine.

IMHO, they will struggle to run a 43 train service without congestion problems, even with new signalling. I agree. With the industry standard of 30secs for door closing and operating margin at termini, then the RORIT at Brixton would have to be under 80secs to achieve the planned 33tph. It is presently approx 96secs.

So,the 09TS wont be able to travel on other lines if it's out of gauge. What if some work needs doing on the fleet that can only be done somewhere like Acton Works? Then they'll have to cut up the 2009 stock to take it there on an engineering train, then 'lose' some of the pieces! ;D
