The two don't mix, it would seem.
Over the past couple of days when Bank's been shut in the afternoons because of all the G20 kerfuffle, the DLR ran services only as far as Shadwell. I'm not sure whether trains were running empty into Bank and back again, or if they were reversing using the crossover west of Shadwell.
But, now we have a shiny new Tower Gateway station that can allegedly handle up to 15tph, why were some services not diverted there, thus providing folk with some form of LU interchange? Seems to be a bit of a waste of Tower Gateway, after spending all that time and money on it?

I thought DLR was suspended only Shadwell-Bank with Shadwell-Tower Gateway still open?

I thought DLR was suspended only Shadwell-Bank with Shadwell-Tower Gateway still open? Precisely - but trains which normally run to Bank were tipping out at Shadwell, (either reversing there or running to Bank and back empty) rather than diverting to TG as they at least some of them could have done

Possibly they will - but not enough to declare that entire service is being redirected?

For Woolwich services to be redirected to Tower would require Beckton services to be retimetabled as they currently occupy Tower for the full 10 minutes between services.

But don't they have to change the timetable of the Woolwich trains anyway so that they don't get in the way of Tower Gateway - Beckton and Bank - Lewisham trains when they are terminating at Shadwell? Couldn't a train that arrives at Tower Gateway from Beckton then go to Woolwich, so that timetables for the rest of the routes could be the same?
