I have been watching my peers test out after our work, I have two questions about this, when do you have to test out? Is it after activating an Awc?
Second question, we aRe working on the jubilee line extension which is a westrace interlocking, would you still have to test out on a conventional interlocking and if so how would you do it?

You shouldn't be working until you've activated your AWC, and must have tested out before clearing it.

I have been watching my peers test out after our work, I have two questions I notice you are asking a lot of questions as you've come in from outside the LU environment, and I think in one other thread you commented you could not get training as fast as you'd ideally like, and again elesewhere you also asked about JNUP Seltrac. Do you have access to LU intranet ? Are the ''Elementary Signals'' course notes not available as PDF files ? I have not done these courses myself - I am not a conventional signals engineer - but I have studied the notes. I must have read the PDF files from somewhere. and I do not recall anyone giving them to me, I found them via an intranet URL. The very first unit explains all about the paperwork (e.g. AWC) and who does what (e.g. SOM) , and terminologoy, as well as intro. to the technical stuff. There are then modules on signals, track circuits, points, V-frames, tripcocks and trainstops, PDs, and so on. ISTR there are 15 modules, then a further 5 just on track circuits ... capacitor, jointless, etc. I guess thats the training you are wating for. I know readng course notes is no substitute for the course itself, but I'm sure a lot of the basic questions could be answered, as you seem keen to learn. to a certain extent I myself like to see course notes before attending a course myself I have got some basic Seltrac mantenance course notes from when I was on the Jubilee but I can't pass it on ... company confidential etc. Are you aware that Tube Lines are [or at least were] running a series of half day ''TBTC For Dummies'' sessions that *any* employee could attend ? This really is at rock bottom low level, and perhaps a little condescending for any technicals type person working on signals, but if you are absolutely at ground zero on TBTC some of the graphics are quite good to get a feel for it. -- Nick

The notes are available as pdfs but are not released by the Training Centre. AWCs aren't really mentioned in the Elementary Course anyway.
