Inset 4: Bank - stairs from Central Line [norbitonflyer] Strictly speaking, it's the stairs TO the Central Line!

Inset 3 is my photograph of the stairs to the Piccadilly Line at Gloucester Road. Inset 1 is not Earl's Court I was fairly sure of Gloucester Road but just guessing at Inset 1. I haven't seen a spiral staircase for 6 years now! Having had another look how about Euston? I've seen those white tiles somewhere. TBH who really looks up a spiral staircase? It's the worst thing in the world especially when lugging a toolbag, torch and more and knowing that it could be 311 steps, I used to regularly climb the Hampstead staircase when working there 'fully booted and spurred' as we used to say.

Unless you mean the old station building on Melton Street? TBH who really looks up a spiral staircase? Takers of pictures for this quiz do, that and corridors to emergency stairs: ;D ;D ;D It's the worst thing in the world especially when lugging a toolbag, torch and more and knowing that it could be 311 steps, I used to regularly climb the Hampstead staircase when working there 'fully booted and spurred' as we used to say. Isn't Hampstead the deepest tube station? Rather you than me!

Isn't Hampstead the deepest tube station? Rather you than me! Perhaps my memory is going but I'd swear there is a spiral staircase at Euston, however, not from top station but from the mid level to the platforms. Mind you I could be thinking of OXO! AFAIK there is not one in the disused area by the disused lift shafts, Euston is one of those stations that I explored many times in the course of my duties. As for Melton Street the old station building there is a substation with a cable shaft down to the tracks but no staircase as such. Yes Hampstead is the deepest and the 311 steps is not to the ticket hall but to the landing below it, there are another 20 or so to reach the ticket hall. It used to take me a few days to get used to the climb, I don't think I'd manage it now even without a load to carry. I think I've climbed every spiral staircase on the system including those that the public never see such as Hyde Park Corner, Down Street, Angel and York Road, as well as the second staircase at Holloway Road built in the spiral escalator shaft and the emergency detraining shaft stairs at Bow Fan Shaft on the Central, Netherton Road shaft on the Victoria etc etc. I guess that's why I'm strugggling to remember where I've seen the white tiles in inset 1 ! A view from the top might help but I don't suppose there is one available.

Yes there are stairs from long cross-passage down to the southbound Vic/Bank Branch platforms, I had to use them the other month when the escalator was broken! I think they were more like inset 4 though; fully tiled and less utilitarian.
