I think MIP = mobility impaired person. I can confirm that on LU "MIP" is indeed short for "Mobility Impaired Person". For completeness, "VIP" is short for "Visually Impaired Person". In the context of MIP access, you should read step free. I don't know this station at all, but I suspect it is a path that leads to a lift which will then take you up to the booking hall and thus street level, making entry/exit from street to train completely step free.

Direct Enquiries website has the step-free route up now. From that, it's not a lift... but a pathway around the end of two of the tracks from the 'island' platform to a new ticket hall on the side platform.
