New Cross Gate indeed - don't know about the last time being for terminating trains - in theory certainly yes. How long before the Southern have a weekend engineering session which requires services to be suspended south of NXG, or a 'failure' which prevents trains going south. ;D ;D ;D

NXG will be used as the start point for some early morning southbound services from that platform.

cant be a 'proper train'----no 4th rail There are four rails! Therefore it's a 'proper' train as you put it (although personally 'proper' trains leave from the adjacent platform ;D).
