Can an AET answer me this question? Once at West Ham numerous trains were getting tripped at the second home signal westbound. All the drivers swore that the signal was green. So someone was sent to investigate and indeed the signal WAS green but the trainstop was UP. I was always told that that would result in a dual aspect or the previous signal would remain red but none of that occured in this instance. Why?

it doesnt have to show a dual aspect the trainstop arm could be say half way up and it still wouldnt make the contact required to give a red aspect in the signal this would only happen though if the arm was jammed or the fact that the contact was broken in the first place the other signals clearing ok means that the TQ proving circuit was functionaly or otherwise there would of been a track failure thus causing a signal or two to failure
trainstop contacts
1 - 1.1 = TQ Proving ' ON ' Contact 2 - 2.2 = GVCR Pick Up ' ON ' Contact 3 - 3.3 = PGR Pick Up ' OFF ' Contact 4 - 4.4 = PGR Lighting ' OFF ' Contact 5 - 5.5 = Alternate Red Light ' ON ' Contact
Definitions
TQ = TRACK LOCAL COIL GVCR = SIGNAL TRAINSTOP CHECKING RELAY PGR = REPEATING SIGNAL RELAY ON = TRAINSTOP ARM FULLY UP OFF = TRAINSTOP ARM FULLY DOWN

Or could be a blown red aspect/RE fuse.
