For a long time now I've seen learned individuals like Harsig, citysig, BAET, DD, solidbond, PP, Q8 and everyone else all referring to documents called "yellow perils", containing information on LT signalling installations and alterations for a given area.
Why is this mysterious document called a "yellow peril"? u.t.l. has nothing useful and Google doesn't return anything worth checking.

They were/are called 'Yellow Peril's' simply because the cover is yellow. (and also possibly because the new arrangements they contain involve a bit of peril until people get used to them.)

documents called "yellow perils", Their official title was "Supplement to the Traffic Circular" which is issued on a weekly basis. As has been said, they were printed on yellow paper and included (where appropriate) a track diagram of the relevant area shewing platforms, block joints, signals and other signs.
