I was chatting to someone the other day who said that one part of Earls Court control centre that needed repairing, was so old that spare parts had to be salvaged from a museum. Was this recent? I have to admit it did make me chuckle (even though I realise it's probably not that funny for LU).

This is a true story, it happened a couple of years ago, parts were taken from the London Transport Museum . LU has also bought parts back off of Ebay. There was an article on either the BBC news or the Standard's page about it.

yep all true they needed a button for the signalman desk and this item was no longer made. earls court has a few pieces of equipment which were one off's to the site so finding spares is fairly difficult
