The signals at Camden Town (E) that are replaceable are A126 (NB starter to Chalk Farm) and A304 (NB starter to Kentish Town). www.trainweb.org/tubeprune/Camden%20Town-lct5-10.gif refers. The Emergency switch may be similar to the keyswitches mounted on certain NR signals that allow the signal to be replaced to red; this switch may replace ALL of the signals in an area to red.

The southbound starting signal at South Wimbledon can also be controlled now - if my memory serves me correct.

Thanks for the replies I have it from a reliable source that the signals which can be controlled are the 2 at Camden Town NB, London Bridge both, Euston SB CX. I have looked at the yellow peril 44/69 and found that the emergency call is to operate to horns or whistle for want of a better word.

Does anybody know why these auto signals have this option? Given LU's operating procedures given the signals are autos the train op could simply apply the rule to pass them. Not very useful All the areas of LU with staff key protection switched are obviously controlled areas.

Yeah it looks like they are there for regulating purposes. Though why they aren't X Signals I don't know! Also up until recently a train couldn't have actually departed the platform without speaking to someone else. And if it is Failing To Clear or being Maintained at Danger, there must be an auto phone to gleam information before "Applying the Rule". And yes as SS Stig says, all signals that are maintained at Danger, by Key Protection Switces are Semis/X Signals!
