I've always believed that the trains running on the W&C were 1992ts trains but I'm confused to learn that they are known as Class 482's.
I'm sorry if this makes me sound a bit dumb but could someone please elaborate on this for me.
Thanks

Until 1994 the W&C was owned by British Rail therefore the new units received BR numbers and classification. I don't suppose LUL uses the class 482 designation but I'm open to correction on this point.

The class 482 numbers remained on the coupling end of NDM cars in NSE livery until they went away for refurbishment and I have photos of them at Doncaster showing the class and unit number on the NDM end, e.g. 482509 (unit '09'). However, I am sure LU never used this classification officially, if at all.
When returned in LU Corporate livery, there was no reference to class 482.
One thing that did surprise me was that they kept their 'main line' car numbers, but thinking about it after, why shouldn't they? After all, a self-contained stock on a self-contained line, and not going anywhere else.
