Think the station will be fantastic when integrated with the new NR Thameslink station which is already looking fairly impressive.

Interesting... Not many SSL stations have escalators. I can only think of Sloane Square - are there any others?

How many tonnes does an escalator weigh as a complete unit? Rather depends on how LONG it is I would have thought! D'Oh!

I can name two more - Baker Street (to the Met subway) and Westminster.

Sloane Square is the only SSR station I can think of that has escalators from the SSR platform to street level.

Are there escalators between the street and the District Line at Embankment? (I've done every other movement there quite recently, but not that one).
There are escalators from the mainline concourse to the SSR level at Paddington Praed Street, but you can only access the outer rail without stairs from that ticket hall.
There is an escalator part of the way from the street to the platforms at Rotherhithe, which has characteristics of both SSR and tube lines. I can't remember if there was an escalator in LU days or not though.
There are escalators from the street to subway level at West Ham, although stairs from there to the SSR platforms, and that is not a sub-surface station.

It all depends surely, there are escalators from street level ticket hall to circulating area beneath District line platforms! I have always regarded that area as District line.

But no escalators to the District platforms AFAIK.

But no escalators to the District platforms AFAIK. No, it's a similar arrangement to that at Baker Street where the escalators from the Bakerloo & Jubilee go to the Met lower circulating area. One might argue that Victoria has a near similar arrangement with the escalators one level beneath the platforms. Then there's Notting Hill Gate, Monument etc, it really all depends upon the criteria, i.e. escalators 'at' SSL stations, escalators 'to' SSL platforms, escalators to SSL platforms at SSL stations or something else! In days gone by, we just had stations with escalators and stations without and even though we had various lines they were not really so separate in the way that they are today!

I get the impression that the criteria in this case is "stations with escalators from street level and/or ticket halls below street level but above SSR platform level to or above SSR platform level where SSR platforms are below ground". There are plenty of stations with escalators to SSR platform level from lower levels (Earl's Court, Baker Street, etc)

How many tonnes does an escalator weigh as a complete unit? To quote my original link, 13 tonnes.
